Default XA armrest "install" : O

ok not really an install but more like a drop-in
i bought that armrest on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

not the most aesthetic but definately the most functional interior upgrade I've gotten so far. i mean, there's no hardware or tooling needed, you literally drop the unit in and it fits snugly into the rear "cup holder" (poor ___ excuse for a cup holder anyways) and center storage rail next to the e-brake. and it gives me a little more storage, inside the armrest.

i initially got it for road trips only, but i really like the extra storage it provides and JUST BEING ABLE TO KICK MY ELBOW DOWN COMFORTABLY ON SOMETHING...FINALLY!

yeah, no boltage, no hardware whatsoever

I havent' tried the e-brake or ABS test on it yet but I don't think it'll go anywhere, it drops in and sits deep and snug.

I too have this exact armrest. I put 5000 miles on the box before the armrest and only 300 after the armrest. I have to tell you the last 300 have been much more comfortable than the first 5000. The storage part is awesome.

I do work at a dealership and I have sold these to some of my customers and they all love them. It is the one piece that the Scions have been missing since inception.

This armrest will fit both the xA and the xB. The center parts are exactly the same.

Thank you Chris, Chad, and James for making this possible.

It doesn't seem to flow with the interior... Looks kinda ghetto...

Hey everyone...standby on the armrest.

I will receive a sample item to fit test and hope to get it in with pics with a week or so.
I'll post my results asap!

This sliding armrest with cup holders, mounts via a bracket secured with backing plates to the plastic center console. I'm concern about stability and will inspect it thoroughly and advise.

If changes are needed or recommended it shouldn't be a problem.

And under $100.00.

P.S. Give me some time to get it later this week and mess with an install...I'm quite busy this time of year, but anxious to locate a solution and share it with everyone!

Default eBay armrest factory?

Is the eBay armrest mentioned at the beginning of this thread factory, from Toyota?
How is it different from Toyota Ist's center console (from Japan)?

Can anyone provide pricing/shipping info and also where to purchase these two (or one if they are the same) items?

I want to buy one or the other, with the only criteria being that it's made by Toyota.

* Thanks... Woody

Well I got the armrest on Fri. As I expected the mounting method is less than desirable. Two brackets bolt into the plastic center console...after drilling 4 holes each side!!! This is the Husco product if anyone has looked at their web page.

I just don't think it will be very stable since the plastic console moves quite a bit.
I do like very much the sliding feature and pullout cup holders. I found another company that just fit their new Scion proto and it's very solid...mounting to the tunnel via the seat track bolts. Their model flips up and I may look into adding the sliding feature from the first company into this new design.

Neither design has storage! I'm not looking for this though.

I'll be purchasing the first for sale unit by end of this coming week and hope to get it installed by mid May.

I'll report back when it arrives and post pics when installed.
