xA or civil HX ?!?
I need to get one more car for daily driving, 100 miles per day. the MPG on my box real dispointed me, only 24/30 never hit 32/38.. so, I'm think about the civil HX( real good on gas 36/44 )
xA owners, what's the best MPG in your record? will you pick HX or xA ? give me ideas

yeah, If I were you I would consider the prius. they are expensive though. so try to find a used one, otherwise what you save in gas you spend at the dealership. thats the problem with hybrids. they are expensive.

Go for a Corolla. (41mpg Highway) It's still a Toyota, so you're showing brand loyalty, and you'll have a better chance getting ahold of a Corolla than a Prius. Plus, you can have more fun customizing a Corolla.

I think the Scion is lying on the gas milage. all the scion owners i know, they NEVER can make the 32/38 mpg on the box. max is 32 with stick shift on hiway, how about the xA ?
I think I will go try the HX, even thoug I dont' like Honda at all, but nothing against the money

Have you thought about the Toyota Echo. It has a different gearing compared to the xA and xB so it has better MPG. The 2005 Echo beat out the 2005 xA according to Edmunds 2005 True Cost to Own rating.

My auto xA's mileage really improved after getting the gas tank replaced pursuant to some service bulletin. I now average around 30 mpg with about 50 percent of my driving consisting of my 5 mile trip to work and the remainder in-city trips--I rarely see the highway. Before the tank change, my average was about 24.
Now, I have no idea whether the tank change had anything to with the inicrease or whether I just drive "nicer," but the change was immediate and has been consistent for the last 4-5 tanks. The last tank took a hit, and I averaged 28 with heavy air-conditioning use.
see if replacing the tank on the xB helps, if its a recall item for you.

i was going to get the civic hx before i got my box but then i saw the standard features and i said F that you dont get crap no airbags or power locks or windows but i see what you mean about the gas mileage all i can say is i use to get 11-13mpg in my xj so now that i get 27-29mpg in my xb im very happy with it - another thing about the hx is it has no room im a big guy so you know just my 2 cents

My uncle has a prius, I cannot argue strongly enough against it. Uncomfortable, cheap build, blind spots, ugly as sin, expensive. A shame to toyota. Get a corolla, the difference in milage is slight (my uncle rarely gets over 40 in his prius). Do the math based on the cost of gasoline, and you'll be surprised how little you save with a prius.

I agree with what others have said. I'd get a Corolla. I absolutely love my xA, but I am not seeing the posted gas milage. I have fairly light weight 16" rims, and I don't drive it hard at all. If you are buying this next car based soley on gas milage and reliability, you can't beat a Corolla.
