Default xA Injen Short Ram Intake stalling problem

I would appreciate some help on this puzzling problem. I recently installed a Short Ram Intake on my xA and when I first started the xA after install was complete it stalled the first start then I restarted it it wanted to stall but the car didnt.
It is just idling really crappy and when i try to drive it it hesitates until about 4 thousand RPM'S in every gear I did the ECU reset and that didnt help but when i reinstalled the stock intake it ran like nothing had ever happend.

Thanks for your time.

Is your MAF mounted backwards? That will definitely stall a car.

If i would have installed the MAF backwards would the plug for the sensor have been on the other side then. Just curious because I'm not exactly sure what you meant about backwards

Yes. The MAF sensor has to face a certain way. If it's rotated 180 degrees (backwards) then it won't work. It's not possible to install an MAF upside down, but it is possible to do it backwards (well, in my other Toyota, it was).

From what I've heard, if the ECU senses a MAF sensor error then the car just won't let you go over 3k RPMs. So it shouldn't stall like that if its just a MAF sensor problem, but I could be wrong. Sounds more like there's something physically wrong with the intake, what brand are you using? Hopefully not one of those ebay intakes as those can be troublesome.

All the hoses and stuff set up properly? Maybe the intake has got something stuck in it. My best guess was the backwards MAF but if you did it right, I have no clue. Please update when you've figured it out.

I've heard of people accidentally touching the sensor and getting the oil from their hands on it, so you could have a dirty sensor, air leaks from not getting it together right, or damage to the connector/wires. Best way to find out is to put the stock one back on and see if it goes back to normal, it it does then you had air leaks.

I still think it is an ECU issue. If the stock airbox (etc) is installed and everything works fine ... then the short ram intake is install and there is problems ... sounds like an ECU + air flow computation problem.
