Default xa lights

this is a two fold question:

im looking to change out my headlights to something that looks like they are HIDS, but not necessarily so. Im looking for an inexpensive look-alike, that doesnt cost $100+ to upgrade. Perhaps just a simple $40 bulb to give it that artic white look... have any of you purchased any reputable brands you can recommend?

also, i've been looking to swap out my side blinker lights on my bumper ever since i've clear cornered my car. i was looking at this ebay auction for euro clear side marker lights, and was wondering if anyone has installed these on their car?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...em130119798168

if anyone can help me, that would be fantastic!

I'm just gonna say that u should invest the money and get a good set of HIDS. My friend went through afew hundred $ on those lookalike bulbs be4 he finally broke down and got the actual set, bulbs would burnout every few months. Also be careful with those lookalike bulbs as they draw alot of current then the stock headlights or an HID set and u run the risk of melting ur wiring harness.

If your looking the HID look, accept nothing less than a complete HID system. The HID imitation bulbs will only disappoint you. If your just looking to improve on the stock bulb, I recommend Silverstar bulbs or Cool Blue bulbs(made by the same company I believe). I have Cool Blue bulbs and they're nice but I kinda wish I'd bought the Silverstars. Anyways, here is a cool post that discusses different kinds of bulbs...

As for the side blinker, I didn't even know they made aftermarket parts for that.

I don't have HIDs but there was a guy selling them here on SL and he advertised that his were a special plug-and-play for scions. From what I've seen it looks easy enough, but again I have no personal experience with HID lights.

Here is that guy's post: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=157333

I seem to remember there being a HID DIY guide but I can't find it right now, if I find it will post the url for you. I've been wanting a HID system myself, let me know how it turns out.

I've installed HIDs n they r very easy to install. Bulbs r a direct swap, HID bulbs plug into there own ballasts which plug into the stock headlight wiring. Hardest part is finding a spot to stick the ballasts.

Sylvania SilverStars will only cost you about $40 for the set of two. They aren't HID, but they look darn good. WAY whiter and brighter than stock and they are totally safe & legal, and they won't void any warranties or melt any wiring harnesses. I have them in both my Scions and I like them a lot.

This is what the clear side lenses will look like...sorry, it was a pic of my rim, just happened to get a shot of the lens..

If you go with whiter lights, get some LEDs for the clear lenses....

the ballast is a little box that are attached to the lights to make them work. I mounted mine on the fuse box on the driver side, and on the inner fender on the passenger side using 3M automotive grade mounting tape. It was pretty easy to do and I love the HIDs every night I drive.

Ballasts as stated above is what makes the HIDs work. Basically what they do is "step up" the power. The last kit I installed the input power was 35watts. The Ballasts "steps up" the power to a much greater powerlevel to work with the HID bulbs. Much safer and more efficient than a fake HID bulb that takes a straight 100watts which can do damage to the stock wiring.

Headlights are 9003ST for the Silverstars.

Here's a handy page for you too.

I got mine from ScionXFactor, a sponsor here on ScionLife. They were super fast in my dealings with them. Shoot them a pm on here and see what they can get them to you for. Might as well get an aliminum oil cap from them too. Below is their profile for you to pm and their site below that to see the products.
