xA or xB? Which did you choose? Why?
Hey, I'm still trying to decide which model to get. (between the xA and xB)
It seems like every day I like one better and the next day I like the other one.
I want to know what made you choose yours over the other. Was it just the looks? The price? The traction control? etc. etc. etc. What?!
Thanks! :D

xB because it was roomier then my last and most cars too. It was really affordable and it got of course great mileage.
xA was too claustraphobic for me with the front glass coming in at a steep angle and the rear was room wasn't all that great.

I bought the XA because I fell in love with the black one Drew had fixed up at Toyoya of El Cajon. It was lowered, had chrome wheels, spoiler, amd silver flame decals along the sides. Looked like a badass little car.
I had never seen the XB before, so I was shocked by it's styling. It looked like a slammed mini land rover, like something you would drive on an african safari, lol. Since then, I have come to love the looks of the XB, and can honestly say that it is the only car (affordable car) that I look at and think, "hmmmm.... should I have bought that instead?"
In the end, I think the XB attracts the most attention from the general public. Unfortunately, it also attracts the haters. I don't regret buying the XA, but I wish my bf liked the XB so we could have one of each. He's dead set on a Tacoma, tho.

the box, ummm because it is a box, it is different, and it looks like a box, and uh... it is boxy lookin, because of the shape, it looks like a box. hahahaha but that does sum it up for me -one word - BOX
At first I wanted an xA, then I really wanted an xB.
But now the xA has really grown on me again. I think it's very Euro in a way.
And I really like the Phantom Gray Pearl color. It's also cheaper. :?
I've just read all the horror stories of people hating on the xB and scratching them, and I don't think I want to deal with that either.
The main thing that worries me, is if I will "miss" the traction control.
Thanks for your reponses! :D

Traction control? We don't need no stinking traction control!
I've never had it so I would never miss it. I'm old school-Learn to drive correctly and you don't need the new technology that was put in place to save the dummies that think driving a car is just a way to get where they want to be....
BTW, your car will brake in the shortest distance WITHOUT the ABS!!

That is the point of ABS, to provide near maximum braking but leave enough grip on the table for people to be able to steer. even top level racers find ABS useful in many situations. and even f1 drivers find traction control useful.
thought, traction controll on a 900hp 1000pound car is a little more relevant than on a 2300pound 108hp car =)
i feel like im in the same boat as u at first i wanted the xb hands down i even talk my brother in to being the first in Gerogia but now after i saw this xa dont know i guess i just need to test drive them both back to back

for me it was more like why NOT get the xB rather than digging for reasons to get it.
Roomy small package, fuel economy, price, quirkiness, fun factor, killer stok sound, etc were all contributing factors
As far as the xA goes, I rather go for the Honda Fit which will be here shortly I hope.

I bought the xA because I've had some experience with buying "practical" vehicles that will haul lots of stuff....
What invariably happens, when you own a "hauler", is that you discover lots of new friends, who want you to haul their stuff for them. You are happy to oblige, when the vehicle is new, because you want to show it off. But spending every weekend helping people move things gets old in a hurry.
Besides, the xA is a blast to drive....it's like a go-cart with big wheels....

The XB looks better when it's tricked out, and it has more room.

I personally like the look of the xA a LOT. . . that and I used to live in a high vandalism neighborhood, and I felt that an xB could potentially be a vandalism target (a few fellow xB owners as well as a few here on SL have been victimized). There are only a handful of cases, as I'm sure people will be quick to reply with, "but it NEVER happened to ME!" But it does happen. . . and I've been through that insurance nightmare.
Reason #2: I came from a faster than average car. Not counting the tC (which had just become available when I purchased my xA), the 5spd xA is marginally the faster Scion, and this thing is just plain acceptable for acceleration. Not great, but acceptable. Anything slower by my standards would not be (for my driving needs).
Although I really love the xB, I'm well aware that it is a "love-it-or-hate-it" car. I'm a weak, insecure individual, and I don't deal well with idiots who decide to car bash. The xA was obviously the more conservative choice.
