Default not a bad curve

I raced a mini (not the S), and won on the freeway, and I'm in a stock xB ? And there was a good curve involved...

Look at your rear "old school" axles... it's a no go and I wouldn't suggest you try. But if you think you can...
Come up to Willow Springs on Sunday March 28th for some time trials held by http://touringcarclub.com/

If you decide to come out, use the registration code TEAMMIGHTYMINIZ for a discount.

We will be running a Super Tuner MCS against a Subaru STi and we will be WINNING.

The suspension and build of the Coopers is as if BMW took a 3 class and squashed it, and imagine being able to push 90 in 3rd.

If I'm pushing my xB to the floor......it doesn't come out of 3rd until 100mph.

I assume by 3rd you mean "gear".......and 90 you mean "mph"........if not...............I'll withdraw from the conversation now.

Default finally

Finally sum ppl are on my side. Well at least sum. In 5 yrs maybe things might change. You never know if toyota actually sees potential in this car and actually redesign it to go against the cooper, but thats just a dream.

I juss hope that 5 thou of upgrades could be enough to at least takedown the coop in hp wise.

and I beat a number of corvettes and an m5 on a road course in my scion.

because they weren't very skilled drivers.

that doesn't imply much about the car =)

hahah you all are funny.

Did the Mini driver know you were racing?

The automatic is fast if driven right

90 in 3rd??? Try second.

Now, a skilled driver in either... can rule vs an unskilled driver.

Example... PISTON - Jason... kills in his xB in the canyons...

Would like to see him sharpen up on the track... could be fun.

the Scion was not intended to match a cooper... it was built to introduce a younder market to Toyota... affordable fun. Performance was barely considered. Look at the lifestyle that follows the "Scions" in Japan... it's more about style.

I wouldn't discount the potential of the scion... but it would take a lot of work to get it up against a cooper... start at the ground and compare up from there.
Mini Suspension is made to handle tight, low center of gravity, etc. The frame, 4 corners, front mount, low center of gravity. Safety, high marks, front driver/passenger, side impact, and A pillar airbags.. safety side impact braces.
A lot of high ticket items packaged in a low cost product..

Now, compare the Cooper S then the JCW

These are just factory models. The aftermarket has some amazing power and handling options... new supercharger giving the S nearly 300hp or more. A Turbo option that increases the cooper from 115 to 160 - 200 hp

Suspension options that convert it from a go cart on rails into a magnetized slot car.

Titanium Ceramic brakes to match stopping power to go power.

Of course computerized nitrous.

Fuel systems, Ignition options etc...

I'll ignore the intakes and exhausts... all proclaim high numbers (in any brand) but fail to prove the high numbers.

The M7 Mini is going to kill the STi

Default more of a bananas in my cereal kinda guy

I hate to tell you, but the Mini is the one who started it, but hey a jackass can drive any car ...
To compare a Mini S, to any scion would have to be, a Scion with a supercharger and tuned. Or else were back to apples and oranges.

i agree.

Until we finally see a fully well tuned xb/xa, we can't really compare to the cooper s.

has anyone seen a mini actually go out the door for MSRP? j/c, as I honestly never have...

as for what the bB and ist were created for? ay, the Mini was originally created to catch the nostalgia for what was a cheap passenger car that became a race car...

back in the day everyone thought the idea of it becoming a race car was absolutely absurd until someone *cough* John Cooper *cough* had it become a race car.. hrm, where have I seen that?

these are still new cars, give it a chance and we'll see what we can do in a year or two.. the original cooper came out with 60-80 hp if I remember correctly and weighs in at 1800? lbs... as opposed to our stock xA at 2300... with 108, not a bad start for the price

we have a start, and no dampening on anyone's part is going to stop us from trying... so let us try and we'll see where we are when I spend $5k on my ride...

Want to compete against a mini?
SHED as much useless weight as possible
Rebuild the rear end
Race suspension
Bigger brakes (lose the drums in back when rebuilding the rear0
install premium aerodynamic pieces with proven use, not some crappy lunchbox wing and bumper trim
Lightweight wheels
Sticky Competition tires
Get used to PREMIUM Gasoline
Octane boost
Supercharger or Turbo Charge
block and cylinder strengthening
Rebuild the head
Ignition upgrades

If anyone is interested in and has the $$ I can have my crew Spice up that xA With some INCREDIBLE Power.

Lastly Throw on some TRD Decals We all know those add 10hp per application.
