It's probably the perfect car for my sister.

She wants a hatchback, she doesn't care about power, it has style, and it has lots of standard features.

Here's one I'm looking at:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Is it a bad deal?

I'm thinking talk them down to $7,999 or something lower.

have to find out the maintenance record if you can find an 06 then you get the steering wheel controls with it as well.

what is so hard to find about a scion xa? i was thinking it was r.s. model or a manual transmision, but that is just a basic xa. and they are just about all loaded like that.

with the exception of the cruise control, those are all standard features.

We live in West Virginia, the land of trucks with lift kits and smoke stacks
and Cavaliers.

You must understand, all the xAs listed online are at least 30 miles away with most of them being 50+ miles away.

We will probably have to get a Civic hatch of some sort, but their sound system is not as good (no mp3!)and the used ones are typically run pretty hard or have lots of miles on them.

That car has fog lights too. Those aren't standard on the Xa.

If you are in wva, Id sugest the newer xb. I rocked one through your state going 70+ no mountains or grades held me back. I pass a mother load of cavaliers and other 3 door hatch back vehicles and even trucks.

Our price limit is much too low for that. We're kinda poor!

And I have a Gen 1 and prefer it over the Gen 2.

Oh, sorry. I guess you get use to going 20mph up hill and 75+ going down hill if you live there? In VA we go 80+ mph, up, down and the ramps. We think i 95 means 95mph.

I think the price is a bit on the high side. Where are you in relation to Mike Ferrell toyota? I can give you a silver rear spoiler if you are interested or going to buy it. I am heading to the show tomorrow, let me know.

I have to work all day tomorrow.

But yeah, I like my 2,500 lb. vehicle, its handling is superb.

I live in the Shenandoah Valley so its not too mountainous.

I'd have to see a good body kit on the Gen2 for me to ever want one.

I hope my mom and sister buy an xA tomorrow.

Yes, the 2300lb xa rocked. I had prosport eibach springs, hotchkis sways front and rear and the urthene end link upgrade. Man, it was tight and solid. It just reved a little high, but easily got 40 or more mpg. I miss mines, but the xb2 well makes up for it.

Yeah, the xb2 lacks the mods of the xb1, but I hope that changes. Good luck. Just remember it has a hydro clutch, so if it seems funky in engagement, you ned to adjust or bleed it like your brakes.

Well,

they ended up getting a 2004 Civic sedan for $7,700 with 96,000 miles (little high huh).

I'm just partial to the xA I guess because I know the Civic's sound system wont be as good nor will the interior look as nice.

My dad is a civic guy. Had one of the first ones from the 70s. I think all hondas are small for the driver.

Still seemed high in price and miles. Maybe do better at a private sale?

The price does seem a little high.

Well, the funny thing is, she is just under 5 feet tall, and she can't see out of the car very well (why choose it then right? lol) So its too big inside.

She can see great out of my xB, haha. But, the xB is awesome in so many ways

Also, I make probably 3 times more money so I can afford to upgrade things and she can't afford that. So the stock will have to do.

I'm glad its a black Civic though, because if I ever get new wheels (gold drag wheels mmm), my black Daylites would look good on that thing.
