That's not even that much oil but always good idea to catch it early.

Hey guys, I know I started this thread a couple years ago, and I stumbled upon it again today while searching my subscribed threads. Anyway, another 'source' of the oil loss I had, believe it or not, was a worn crank position sensor seal! I took it to Toyota a couple of weeks ago and they showed me a trail of oil that went from the sensor through the harness, to the ECU. I couldn't believe it either, but the guy pulled the ECU out, and sure enough, there was oil on the connectors. I've since replaced the O-ring on the sensor, next step is to get the ECU and harness cleaned.

Well, I went through a couple of O-rings and it still leaks. I bought a set of automotive o-rings of different diameters thinking one of them should do the trick. I wanted to try that before forking over for a replacement crank position sensor. I might just have to do that now...

I do. Around 220k now. No oil on the end of the PCV, but oil in the intake and return air hose. I'm gonna have to replace the piston rings.

I gotta say "Thanks" too (albeit a bit in advance). My "box" has 65k on it and I've changed the oil 19 or 20 times (always synthetic and with Purolator I filter). Goin 5 grand with any oil scares me! Anyway, I always pour out just about 4 qts american of the old stuff except for the last time when it was about 3 1/2 qts. No leaks anywhere and if it smoked, the windows are so damned dark that I wouldn't see it anyhow. I'm gonna get a PCV valve today just for yuks and see what happens the next 3k or so. By the way, the 30k plug change seems (or feels) too long to me also. The last 5 or 10k is sluggish compared to how it feels after new (stock) plugs. 20k next time.
Thanks to ALL!!

their is no harm in doing things too early but all the manufactures suggested intervals are fine also. 5000 miles is not long for an oil change now. especially with synthetic. don't burn your money away. plug's at 30 are normal as well.

Remember, that just because the pcv rattles doesn't mean it is ok. The spring is calibrated to allow engine vacuum to draw the plunger a specific amount so you don't have a noticeable air leak. It is actually a calibrated air leak. Slams shut during a backfire situation and vents the rest of the time.
