does the 06 xb have any clutch slippage problems? if you had any problems did you go to the dealer to fix it or did you buy an aftermarket clutch? i'm extremely short on cash, so I need a cheap way to fix the problem permanentalee.

my '06 has 13k now and im not feeling any slippage. i also just putt around though since the box aint fast and i got it for gas mileage. maybe you are imagining it? i dunno man maybe someone else with more experience with the box can chime in. i heard replacing the pressure plate early can help the life of the clutch though

 

ok, thanks. i was driving today with the stereo on loud so i couldn't hear the engine. I noticed it in my foot, my clutch foot, when i was realeasing the clutch i felt something slip, kinda grind a little bit before it caught on. i guess i need to monitor my driving habits a lil better.

 

I drive an 06 as well with about 5k miles as well! I have never had any clutch slippage, but you might have the one bad box that does. Take it in for warranty. It should be free. And my advise is NEVER BUY AN AFTERMARKET CLUTCH! Unless you have a different trans, because if you put to agressive of a clutch in a stock trans, even if you have engine mods, you are bound to blow the trans! (I know from experience!)

So check out what the dealer says. You are still under warranty.

Have them fix that problem while you get your first free oil change!

no aftermarket clutch? someone just told me to get one cuz it's better, just a stage 1 tho. so i don't really know then. maybe i should just buy a piece of crap car made by macgyver with some paper clips and a rubber hanger.lol.

 

i'm really thinkin about the new xb now....it doesn't look too bad anymore...i might buy it and start a family and have like 10 kids or something then! hahahahah! no way. but i still like the xb2.

 

06 clutch is the same as 04 and 05 clutches and they often times slip.

 

hhmmmmmm.....mmmkay mr mackey. how did you get so many posts? you have 4000 more than anyone else.. that would make you the first person to post on this site. ima gona geta aftermarket clutch. when the problem becomes rampant.

 

Are you sure it is the clutch slipping. Sometimes my traction control seems a bit hyper and when taking off it jerks the car around, feels kinda like clutch slippage. This happens particularly if the area has rough pavement, or a loose or slippery surface (crosswalks and stop lines can make it happen).

i was gonna say maybe it was ice...then i saw you are in Hawaii (you suck by the way)

i have 17k on mine and it slipped once or twice but i cant be sure it wasn’t the road surface. i know alot of ppl have theres go out between 20k-30k. if it slips again take it to the dealer. from what i understand, they used the same clutch/pressure plate set up they used on the echo. the xB is heavier and has diff gearing so it is prone to slip. i hear the problem is the pressure plate springs are weak. again, take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

 

any advice what to tell the dealer when they give you the run-around?

 

im sure they are going to say you were racing. if they give you a hard time come on here and do a quick search for slipping clutch and you will find more then enough evidence.

 

also understand there are cars on here that are at 80k with out any slipping, i know someone who had there replaced at 25k. so it seems hit or miss. im waiting to see what mine does...im going to be furious if i have to replace the clutch more often then the brake rotors...

 

your guaranteed to hit a pothole at least every 10 minutes over here. that's the condition of the roads, and it's stop and go traffic everyday except for sundays. I'm still going to change out the clutch no matter what anyways, i'll just make it a mod. This is my 3rd vehicle that I have driven stick on. the first was an S10, the second was a nissan truck with SEVERE clutch slippage(it was my favorite to drive), and the box is my 3rd.

 

the nissan had super bad transmission problems too, we used to kick start it everyday, start the truck in gear, race it in 1st up a steep hill, we always overdo it and it still runs the next day. sometimes it will die and won't start again, but it will come back to life after we apoligize. .lol

 

If you do your clutch upgrade soon enough, you won't have to have the flywheel resurfaced. It's not a matter of if it will fail. It more like when it will fail.

 

I have 40000 miles on my Xb and I haven't had any problems.
