My Xb is doing a weird thing at start it drops from like 13v to 8 v at start up only and is barely starting. Before I go out in the garage any ideas what might be causing the drop and hard starting?

 

test the battery and alternator. its gotta be one or the other. a bad batt. can make your car do weird stuff!

 

weird thing it takes a charge according to SG it only drops when I start it...1 yr old battery grrrrrr

...Possibly a crappy connection to the battery.
I have seen the crappy stock terminals not carry a good charge several times.
Pull them, scrub them a little with some steel wool or a wire brush, being sure to get the inside contact edge nice, clean, and smooth, then reinstall and see what happens.
I would recommend that you replace the terminals with something a bit better quality, but that choice is up to you.

 

I was thinking the connection too maybe due to it charging well.... I am gonna clean them tonight and pray I they get me through until Sunday and yeah I should have changed them long ago grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
