Default Any Randode Pro-Shifter Mod Users?

Please comment on how this shifter has been treating you.

I'm especially interested in your comments if you've upgraded from another competing brand (e.g. TRD, TWM, etc.)

A few questions:

1. How does Randode's shifter compare to what you were using before?
2. Does Randode's mod make shifting "notchier" or smoother after installation?
3. How difficult is the installation and what does it entail?

Thanks!

1. I was using stock before, so it was a very big difference when you shift. It shortens the throw by a good amount. It is also 1.5 inches shorter than the stock one. It feels great and I can still rest my hand on it like I used to with the stock unit without leaning over or anything (BTW, I don't have a armrest).

2. Randode's shifter does seems to feel the same in terms of smoothness when compared to stock. Then again, it is basically a modified stock shifter.

3. The installation is very simple. You just need basic hand tools and you could do it. It took me about 15 minutes, and that was because I was taking my time. Unlike the TWM one, it doesn't require any type of drilling or anything. I believe the installation should be very similar to the TRD one.

When I was looking to purchase a short shifter, I narrowed it down to TRD and Randode. I picked Randode for the price, and for the ease of installation. The TRD one is also easy but I've heard that it changes the location of neutral. Apparently with the TRD one, in neutral it is in the same location as the stock 4th Gear. That didn't sound appealing to me.

yea, neutral is in the exact location for the Randode Shifter as it is for the stock shifter.

Isn't it a matter of cutting out 1.5 inches and welding it back together? Or is there more involved than that?

Boxer,

It is more than that. But you should email Randode for more details. The way he explained it to me was that he changes the shift point or soemthing along those lines. He maybe able to make one for you that retains stock shifter height.

I don't have the short shifter from Randode, but I do have some of his other products. I would get his short shifter if I didn't have the one I have currently. Randode makes quality products and will not release them just for the sake of making money.
