Default anyone heard about a 4th gen 4AGE 20v xB swap?

i was lookin around for some options and thought about the 4AGE engine *4th gen 20v* being it's 160hp 7,400rpm and 120lbs torque 5,400rpm. it gets almost the same mileage as our current block and according to some reading, the C50 and C160 transmissions fit it thus the xB and xA's C150 will fit just fine. just seems to be an obviouse swap option and looks to be more on the simple side compared to other options...

has anyone heard of a 4AGE swap?

No one has swapped anything into an xb yet, but many have researched it. I'm sure it could be done given enough time and money, but it would probably take some major modification to make the engine/tranny fit.

bah... the stock trany is a straight bolt on to the 4AGE, if the C50 and C160 tranys fit, the C150 will fit just as easily, thus why it seems like a more simple swap option.

There was a guy featured in a scion magazine a while back, he had all the rear windows paneled, and was running a engine swap supercharged and making 400hp. I dont remember the swap but I remember he had to make a custom firewall

Heck if you are going to do a RWD swap just stuff a narrow v6 in that sucker instead of a 4 banger.
But yeah, that swap would be sweet if you didn't have to dink with the tranny also!! Very interested indeed.

actualy, i found that the silver and black top both can be used either way rwd or fwd

if you think about it, it would be perfect. the C160 trany that fits our xB/xA comes from the AE101 right? well think of it this way, the AE101 uses the 4AGE silver top of which, the black top is the exact same engine only with high compression. so not only do you get to use your stock or C160 trany, but just maybe you can use the stock axels *prefureably the upgrades from crank shaft shop*. the axels go strgith to the trans right? *i don't know much about that area* if so, then it would be perfect!

If the stock axles can handle a turbo they should be up to the task of a nice swap like this with no problem.

i'm sure the stock axels can handle the 4AGE silve and black top if i's ran stock. but use a turbo at all and they'll need to upgrade.

blacktop is rated at something like 165hp and 120lbs torque which the axels should handle fine, but i'm also told that it can handle about 12-15psi of boost on its stock internals which would put that around the 400 mark on both ends so turboing would require the axel upgrade.

EDIT:i had the wrong psi rating. stock compression is 10.0:1 so lowing compression would be wise too.

I wonder what max hp the stock axles could live with? Not to change the subject tho.

i think ZPI tested that factor and started snaping the stock axels at around 220hp and 220lbs torque i think. they said if you are pushing 200+ or plan on doing that, then using the crank shaft shop upgrade axels is a highly recommended and a must do.

heres an idea... what about a 3SGTE swap? get a 3rd or 4th gen going on in there, you could be pumpin some serious power with LOTS of room for growth.

i read somewhere that the 3SGTE if built and tuned correctly can handle upto to the 700-750 range and actualy put a 2JZ to shame. IF DONE RIGHT though.

i've contacted several people so far to find out about what transmissions fit it and whatnot. it's a celica engine so i would asume the C150 would fit it just fine. i'm trying to look for options that don't require much change in settup for example, being able to use the C150 and or C160 as a bolt up straight to the motor that way theres no need for change in wheel base or trans axel conversions and things like that.

so ya, another idea is the 3SGTE found in the Toyota Celica *GT-four with 3rd gen 3SGTE*, Toyota MR2 and Toyota Caldina. i've read of 3SGTE swaps that are actualy rocommended over the 4AGE silve and blacktop being the 4AGE's can't handle much more then about 250hp which basicly sits us right back at square one with the 1NZFE. the 3SGTE however can handle ALOT more and it smaller then the tC's 2AZFE engine. te 3SGTE so far that i've seen on stock installs have been a rwd or awd equiped. BUT if it's been swaped into the corolla's which have had the C50 and C150's for a while, then it surely should be able to do the xB and xA... hell even the tC a good job if it will fit it's trany. plus... if not, can get a awd trany, disable the rear transfer case and just use the front end .
