Auto > Manual Conversion
After driving my xB for over a year i'm started to get slightly bored lol ... i'm about to go out and buy a cheap 2nd car to 'play' with. I'm thinking about getting an older Miata in 5sp and go to local AutoX events or something ... but that's going to cost a lot of money lol, and since i'm in college i don't think it's a good idea to spend that much money (i'd go through tires, not to mention have to put a lot of money into a second car when i already have the xB with quite some $$$ put into it).
Anyhow, i know Manual to Auto conversions aren't that big of a deal, i mean i see it as a much easier conversion then to do a LHD > RHD conversion. My friend has an S13 and an S12 and he's having the S13's transmission converted for $500. I realize it's an older car and the parts are cheaper and it probably doesn't need as many parts replaced as our xB's would need).
Some times i like my auto transmission, but most of the time i don't like the lack of control and i think it would be wayyy more fun to have 5sp ... and maybe i could get a little better gas mileage.
Sooo, for anyone that would know, what all would i need? Obviously the gearcase or w/e, new pedals, shifter ... New ECU. I'm not saying that i'm going to do this for sure, just trying to get an idea. Thanks

You would be money ahead to strip your box of all modifications you would like to keep, then sell it or trade it in. Then go buy yourself a manual xB. Last, reinstall all of the modifications you stripped from the old car.
