Default Best Price for a drop-in K&N 33-2211

I've hit 15000 miles on my car (no problems since the tranny fiasco @ 3000 miles - YaY ) and it's time to change the air filter... My wife's got an xB too, so I remembered that the cost of a stock/wix filter was kind of high ($15 each)... I started looking for a K&N & believe I've found the best price. Figured I'd pass it along incase anyone was interested.

Amazon.com is getting into the autoparts business - $35.41 shipped for a K&N 33-2211
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...712264-1473421

If the link doesn't work, just go to amazon & search for 33-2211.

After 45,000 miles my investment will pay off (based on a 15,000 mile service interval).
(I'm not worried about the whole K&N filtration debate - I've used them on all my cars & bikes with no problems.)

sounds like a good price...

I have a TRD air filter that was in my car for like 100 miles before my CAI came in if you want it. It is pretty much the same thing as a K&N.

I would go with the Green High Performance Air Filter (part # 2385) it will out flow the K&N by about 15% and stop the same amount of dirt. The Green May Cost a Little More Than The K&N, But Hopefully Cost is not your only Concern.

Thanks for the offer - would've taken you up on it if I hadn't already ordered the K&N

actually for a reusable air filter... stopping dirt, price, and longevity are my only concerns - my car is stock & will stay that way (didn't buy the xB to go fast) so flowing more air won't help much. Had I known about the brand before though, I may have researched them a bit & bought one of theirs instead. Thanks for the heads up!

I've been reading the snorkel thread & the snorkels days are numbered - it's history when I put the filter in.... if I can get a mpg or two free & easy, I'm all for it!
Thanks

ur welcome. yea I've done a number of drop in filters w/ snorkel or resonator removals and the results are pretty amazing. The best thing about it is that there are no worries with inspections, its quiet when crusing around town and its pretty loud when u open her up. its not going to get u the most power but u retain ur low end response + ur throttle response is going to be nicely improved. if u don't wanna go all out this is a must do mod.

I picked up my K&N off ebay for $35 + $8 shipping, not too bad. My local stores wanted $50+, with sales tax on top of that. I put it in today, and yanked the snorkel/removed the charcol filter. I'm very happy with the results. I'm so glad I found this site, I probably wouldn't have done any of this with out it, lol.

Good price for sure. You will love it and don't forget to leave that snorkle off.
I ran a K&N for a couple years before I got the YDR short ram intake that came with the round K&N filter. I'm keeping the drop in one for when my wife picks up a used xB/xA in a couple years when prices come down.

glad I could help y'all save a buck or two...

I've got the K&N in & the snorkel out. It definately seems to have a positive effect - maybe not more power, but more responsive. I wasn't sure I'd like the increased noise, but it's only when you're getting on it/accellerating & is normal when cruising, so it's not a problem for me - I'd definately do it again

It's all about throttle response and mpgs! I love the hissing sound it makes just as you shut it off too.

what about cruising at 75-80 in my manual, does removing the snorkel make more noise at that 3700-4000rpms?

U'll notice an increase in noise since u drive at that speed and know what ur car sounds like at it, but for someone who doesn't know they will have no clue. As stated b4 its fairly quiet with normal driving, its only when u floor it will u definitly notice a much more present intake noise that has a very nice deep and throaty sound but not too much as with an sri or cai.

just a quick update... gas mileage doesn't seem to have been affected much (a mpg or two at best) and I'm beginning to grow tired of the extra noise removing the snorkel has produced (the car is too loud for me stock) - I think I'm putting it back on this weekend.

Is it that you can't tell if the mileage was increased, or are you saying it was increased by only 1-2 mpg?
If the mileage actually increased by 1-2 mpg, that's significant.
