FWIW, I think there's really only a few 90* bends (2?) that you'd need to order. The rest of the 2" piping could be supplied by a local shop.

Even if I decide to go crush bent, I'd still go 2" piping. 2.25" seems too big for a little 1.5L unless you're going forced induction or nitrous.
I usually buy locally... I really didn't have that oprion when I was stationed in WA though, so I ordered from a muffler shop in my home town in FL

Default new exhaust

I just had my mechanic put the DC headers on then took it too a muffler shop and had 2.25 in pipe put in with a high flow bombz muffler...it sounds great and looks nice....no one sees the bottom of the damn car so paying 700.00 for a stainless stell seems a bit much to me. The new pipe installed cost me 60 bucks...and the muffler was like 20.

Does the getting rid of the resonator make that much of a difference. I've got a blitz axel which if very quiet...quieter than expetected and I was thinking about taking it to muffler shop and doing away it to get more sound from my axel back.

My guess is that you'll get a lot of in-cabin resonation and perhaps some buzzing outside. It'll definately increase the volume, that's a 100% bet.

Keep in mind if you go too large in diameter you'll lose low end torque, but you'll gain some high end. For a 1.5 liter engine I wouldn't go larger than 2.25. If you're getting a cat back system or a custom system, you'd be better off getting a header too.

That might be good for 6 to 10 hp. Not bad for such a small engine.

I'm running the AEM CAI to the DC headers to a custom crush bent manifold back system (2.25") High flow cat, shortened resonator and out of a Apex'i N1 Round Canister off of a Turbo WRX. (4" exit)

The F*ing thing is LOUD without the silencer. I tried going uphill and the entire cabin resonated so badly that I couldn't hear my wife next to me in the passenger seat. However, I was able to leave the four boxes behind me as I pulled uphill in fourth. They couldn't keep up.

I'd say it was great for top end (which we run out of very quickly) and bad for low end (which we need).

If I could do it all over again, I'd probably leave the stock cat and resonator alone, and go with a simple 2" crush/mandrel bent Cat-Back system. For my new found taste in quietness, I'd probably go with a nice and quiet three chamber magnaflow too.

Just my two cents.

Oh, and for what I did, the box pulls better between 4.5K-6Krpm's.
