Default Black Soot on Tailpipe

I was just curious to know if anyone else has had black soot build up on the tailpipe of the xbs? from day one mine has done it and yet none of my other cars do. usually this is a sign of the car running rich but that seems unlikely to me. let me know if this is common.

Default Black soot in tailpipe.

With the newer cars, it is quite common. Before catalic convertors, that would indicate a rich fuel mixture. But now you can't judge the mixture by the exhaust coloration. ( To a point ). It's fine, mine has been like that since I got it. Now have 42k miles.

OT: when i had my old car i had dual exhaust on it with the tips pointing at the ground and it was little bit too rich would leave black marks from the exhaust on the ground, i loved that alot!!!

i always get a kick out of it!!!

Natural occurance on all gasoline vehicles. It's the moisture that is produced during combustion. Some vehicles do it worse than others. My wifes Jeep Wrangler is real bad. So bad I keep a piece of cardboard under the tail pipe so it doesn't get on the shop floor.
