Post camshaft position actuator circut removal

i just busted my camshaft position actuator circut(dont ask how).i just need to know how to remove it properly, it looks like i just need to slip the alternator out of the way to get to the circut but i dont know if its that simple. and i want to take out the old part before i buy a new one so i can see if its saulderable or not. im lookin at bout 112 greenback for a new part, if anyone know where to get any cheaper ones id like to know, thanx.

Yes just loosen the alternator, I think it's just one mounting bolt.. (I did it once, long ago). Spend the money on the OEM unit, if replacement is needed. If its a soldering issue, go for it. Just bear in mind, this is a simple solenoid, so soldering should be ok (unless its the PCM signal wire). All wires going to the PCM use slight variations in voltage to determine function, soldering and connectors can cause a slight voltage drop and cause slight miscalculations. If it is not the PCM signal wire.. no foul. If it is.. GL, can go good or need a harness.

i just took out the camshaft actuator and as i already knew it was busted in two, now my big problem now is where to get a new acuator(my old one is unrepairable). im thinking a junk yard near me but dose anyone know where to get a new one online. ive been lookin around and cant find the exact part for my car, or even the whole unit, all im finding are the connector pieces.

I have some bits and pieces of a couple of old engines. Show me a picture of what you need and I'll see if I have it. If I do, it's yours. All I wanted the engine(s) for was to test fit custom engine covers and it has have been gutted of all internal parts.

I went to the dealer... which is all I will recommend for these types of components. Even then, it took two different trips (the second trip bringing the actual part to get the right one).. if its broke, mine was, you cannot drive (or should not.. I did). It will leak and act funny.. don't want your valve train doing funny crap!

However, you can order from a few large dealers online, that have full parts catalogs available to you with diagrams. They did not stock this part here.. in Miami. It had to be ordered.

I live in Kissimmee, Florida a little south of Orlando. Just find a picture or drawing from the repair manual and use that. Maybe google it and send me the link.

hip_2b_sqr

that pic is the part.. but you see mostly the connector.. anyway, its located on the passenger side of the head, on the forward facing side. Should be the only sensor/actuator/solenoid in the area.

Very sorry, but looks like IvanBB broke his connector off when he pulled his engine too. Good luck on the hunt for a new one.

ok i got a real important question, ive found some parts and ive been gettin different names of the part i need, is the name of that part in the pic above the 'camshaft position actuator' like ive been calling it, or is it the 'camshaft position sensor' or are they both the same thing. everywhere ive gone for that part have been really veague and cant seem to show me how their part looks, either cuz its not in stock or they cant find it(really annoying!!!)

It is NOT the position sensor! That is what they kept trying to sell me.. that goes in a completely different area and does a different job.

You will need to go to the dealer parts counter, have them pull up the cylinder head diagram and point it out for them.. I can't find my old box with the part number on it.
