Default Cheap but effective Exaust system

I have shecked the prices of some cat back systems and they look good but a expensive for some people so here is a cheaper way.

First I have my own shop so I get parts cheaper. Here is what I did I had a brand new universal muffler with a 3.5 inch tip which was flame treated with the cool looking shine. Any way I took it to a friends shop where he cut of my exaust right behind the cat then he mandral bent 2 inch pipe and ran past the back axle and welded on my new muffler wich the tip fits and looks great in the factory hole in the bumper. Also the mufflers with the heat treated tips shine diffrent metallic colors that look great with all scion colors. Last he welded new hangers to the top of the muffler so that it looks clean. The result is a complete 2 inch cat back exaust that sounds great even the local scion/ toyota sales maneger loved it. It sounds loud and very deep like sometihng you would expect from a japanese race car with a hint of back fireing.

The cost

Muffler ebay other about $50
cost of having the pipes ran $80
Total for kick ___ custom cat back exaust $130
trust me this isn't just a cheep fix I promise your exaust will dyno the same as a expensive system and look just as well get the pipes mandrel bend and some one with skills to do it.

nope , if u buy a quality muffler like i know how to get it won't , all i can say is never get arospeed , lol . a-spec and rs-type are the main offbrand i will get and i have run them for over 2 years on other cars .

oh are u sure it's mandrel? mandrel tubing is soo expensive , hell the bender is 2 to 3x more expensive than a crush bending machine.

no resonator? wow thats bravely loud , i replaced mine with a cherry bomb and it can be loud if the resonator is removed but b4 i added the resonator i had none and man too annoying , drone and volume and a higher pitched tone , no good. lol it was worth the extra 22 dollars.

And how long have other people been going around saying a custom catback runs $120 installed?????????????

Anyway...for that price I doubt you have a resonator so watch out for the cops

my cat back was 125 with resonator , i kinda got a hook up on install but still . at most a custom cat back will be 25o and with this u can choose virtually any muffler you like.

Yeah, we can't get away with something like that here in Cali, the cops will be all over you here. Sound laws are very important over here. But glad you got hooked up, keep the tip clean. :D

Izz weird man...when I only had a muffler put on, I got 3 tickets and it was no where near as loud. Then with my full setup wid no cat or resonator...I never got a ticket and neither has the guy I sold it to over 4 months ago.

Good work, Urban.
I think 2" mandrel would be perfect, but I personally would use a resonator.

If anyone is thinking about this route, I'm pretty sure summit racing sells mandrel bends for a decent price. I'm sure if you supplied a shop with the appropriate bends they could do the rest for you.
I may have to go that route one of these days.

mandrel bending on a 2 inch will cost you say 90.00 and net you maybe .5hp-1.1hp. so.... kinda not worth it.

perhaps...
but if you're crush bending the piping, you're essentially losing more and more exhaust gas velocity around each turn...
so why bother opening up the piping if you're just going to kink it 3 or 4 times.

.5-1.1 seems like pretty precise numbers. Where are you coming up with them?
