Check Engine Issue (please help)
So Thursday am, the three wise men came on (my check engine light came on followed by the traditional VSC and Trac Off lights). I drove to O'Reilly's later that day to borrow their OBDII scanner and discovered that it was my MAF sensor (believe the code was p0103) so I asked if they had it and they luckily had one left. With a $52 core from changing it in the parking lot, I ended up paying $102. Probably could have gotten it cheaper but needed to get to work the next couple of days and didnt care. Well driving home from work tonight, I had this guy cut me off so I honked and all of a sudden the check engine light came on followed by the VSC and Trac Off lights! Its barely been 48 hours since replacing my MAF and havent gotten a chance to run an OBDII yet. I reset the code after installing the new MAF and am praying that maybe the unit they sold me was either defective or whatever else might be causing this inconvenience isnt as much as the last part!
Anyone know what else might be causing this? Im assuming its the MAF sensor again because of how the car has a mini seizure around 3k RPM's when accelerating. I will get it scanned again tomorrow and update this thread. If its the same part, hopefully O'Reilly's exchanges it! Im so frustrated as I just found work and havent even gottten a first check yet and this crap happens!

So after going to O'Reilly's this am, it threw the same code (p0103) and a new code (p01xx) but regarding the same issue of air flow. They took back the MAF and exchanged it for another one and I reset the codes. So far so good. I think Im going to either clean or replace my K&N filter on my AEM since its been a few years and I think it might have something to do with the problems Im having.
Yeah, Id have to agree! Im seeing this issue on numerous threads. I know it isnt the intake as it isnt some knock off from eBay but just sucks that Im even considering going back to stock to avoid this occurrence any more.
I've seen a lot of people recommend to clean the MAF sensor with some cleaner you get at the auto parts store. You said you already replaced it though anyway. Do you have the whole intake system aftermarket? Or just the filter? I just have a regular stock filter on mine. I got it at the parts store when I got it, and changed it out. I don't even remember the brand, but they just gave me whatever one was compatible with the car, and I changed it. I know I don't have the box it came in anymore either. I read about a lot of MAF's going bad on these cars, and I was kinda put off at first. Even though the part is affordable, and anyone who can use their hands can change it out. I think mine is original. It's the Denso one, but it could have been replaced with another stock oem one. Don't think so though.
When you say that you reset the codes, you did this with the scanner tool?
Anytime you change something with this engine (even the MAF sensor that appeared to be the problem), it's a good idea to rest the ECU completely.
Unhook your battery for at least 90 seconds (or more if you have time), reattach it, and then start the car and let it idle for about 10 - 15 minutes. If you get the lights again after that, then you've got a problem to look into.
