Default Clean oil - yellow dipstick. Can't read level

So I did some searching on getting a different dip stick and tried to find something at the local auto parts stores to no avail.

When I searched all I saw was people wanting a different one because they thought it might break.

I just want to be able to read the oil level after an oil change.

The after market ones I have found are for domwstics and have seals that go around the tube and ours seals inside, so they don't fit.

Anyone found one that works.

The oem dipstick works just fine. The trick is getting the dipstick real clean of any oil, insert to read oil level and look to see where the shine from the new oil stops in the proper area. Works like a charm for me...

Take some rough sandpaper and roughen-up the end of the stick where the lines are.
It will help you see the oil under the light.

give it 35000 miles, it browns up a bit then you'll be able to read the dip stick easier :D

Or don't check it until the oil light goes on.

I dont know about you, but my dipstick is a matte yellow color when dry. When it has oil on it, it is shiny. Super easy to read IMO.

Brown is an understatement in this situation.

Seriously ... dry off the stick completely. Re-dip and then look for where the shiny part starts.

Oil change with filter is only 4 qrts anyway.

Default re oil dipstick

i had a hard time as well checking my oil on my dipstick, so i googled 05 scion xb oil dipstick and found this company TOYOTA SCION PARTS STORE OF CLERMONT. They had it for 12.00 plus shipping, altogether i paid 25. It shipped quickly and it was a perfect fit and it is made of metal so easy to read better than the plastic original.
