Default Crooked exhaust

Anyone have any problems with their exhaust being crooked? I put on the HKS HI Power catback and the tip sits right next to the bumper. Is it safe to maybe bend it or any other solutions?

Doh! I worded that wrong. The fitment is a little off. the tip is snug with the right side of the bumber cutout. it isn't centered and will melt my bumper if it gets to hot.

Yes it will burn, melt or blacken your inner exhaust hole. Take a big zip tie and put it around the exaust metal hanger and the bumper and pull it tight and it will straighten up some, so as not to burn your car. If you dont do this every bump you hit will send the hot exhaust tip against your car.

I had the same problem, I was worried about a zip tie breaking so I took some bailing wire and tied it up.

my Strup exhaust was touching the left side no matter what i did.
solution: my dad heated up the pipe coming from the cat and we pulled the tip to the
right. now its perfectly straight. dont think this will work on the jdm angled exhausts.

Some guys on here said to loosen up the bolts at the cat, and then straighten out the tip, then have someone tighten while you hold the tip in place.

Take it to the exhaust shop, and pay the $40.00 for them to straighten it out, or return the system. Good luck either way. At least Call the company that makes it and ask them what they do because obviously they did'nt have that problem.

Yea i had the same problem on my RSR GT2. Its SUPPOSED to have the JDM-slant, but not to where it hits the bumper. I fixed it w/ a ziptie from the hanger to the bumper.

I had a similar problem with my Greddy Evo II. I went to Auto Zone, and purchased another rubber exhaust hanger, and placed it after the one that came with the exhaust. This prevents the exhaust from moving around, and staying where it's supposed to. I would imagine you could do something similar.

Can you post some pics? I haven't seen the Hi-Power on an xb yet. I am a big fan of the exhaust and have the carbon titanium one on my IS300.

Well, its not really a big problem from a few exhausts. Its a small problem that occurs in most ehausts built for the xB. Besides, a small ziptie fix is 100% worth the sound that my exhaust makes!!!

I have a Borla axle back on my xb. It scraped on my driveway and got knocked out of place like he described. I took it to the dealer and they loosened the coupler and put it back in place. But it happened again. So i did what that other guy said and put some safety wire around it to hold it in place, which works great. But no i have bad vibration from the wire hitting the side of the pipe. I plan to remedy that by wrapping some muffler bandage around the pipe in the spot where it rubs. I think the whole problem comes from the rubber hangers. They just aren't solid enough to hold the load. I shouldn't have to rig my sh!# up like that.

No luck. It still sqeaks. All i have to do is touch the tip and it stops. But it's still there. Any advice?

Check the gasket between the axle back and midpipe. That's probably it. thanks Stylis
