uhh... dropping the frame, dropping the tranny... yeah... it's a long process and not a simple thing... not a DIY type thing... not unless you know what you're doing.

scion has it listed as a 6 hour job... which is about right.

i would say it's hard... long process..

Agreed... Pete this is not somthing you want to attempt yourself... I told you to just do it while you where at ZPI... But have a qualified mechanic do it..belevie me the money you will pay will be well worth it.. in time and money and who knows what else if you tried it yourself.

if you have air tools and a reliable person who has done several clutches before this isnt very hard. The biggest obstacle will be if you get stuck getting something apart and how to overcome it.

last install i observed... my buddy took two days.. he took a lot of breaks cuz yeah... he was tired and he ran into issues

mind you he's been a mechanic longer than i've been alive. whatever he ran into he worked around it fine.

i still say total job was about 6-8 hrs total work time.

For what year Civic?

Ive put my share of clutches in in my short period of life. Several into the 7th Gen Celica, which is setup almost exactly the same as the xB. Removing the "cradle" (Toyota refers to it as a member, btw) isnt that bad, you just have to roll with it and have another person help you.

I usually work with a friend of mine who is just as capable as I am mechanically and we can roll through stuff pretty quick. By yourself, it will take much longer. For instance, we converted an automatic 02 Celica to a manual in 2 days worth of work without any type of real plan or know how. (we were one of the first to do the swap) Alot of that time was spent on beer consuming, talking smack and arguing about how/what order to pull things apart.

When my friend pulled his trans to put his LSD, clutch and flywheel in he did it by himself with no air tools on jack stands in less than 6 hours.

87 civic, that thing went as a trade in for the xb, my dad passed it on the side of interstate 30 with the engine blown to peices, and a big hole in the middle of the hood, the next day
