Default DSM Owners..... Am I crazy for thinking this??????????????

So i've been thinking about this for about 2 months now, and i haven't really went any farther than "thinking".

I was thinking how fun my XB would be if it had a 4g63 in it. i'm talking 6 bolt, FP turbo, 20psi.............man, just talking about it makes me want to go rip into my Eclipse. To bad theres a damn tornado 5 min. away!

The turbo/supercharger kits for the XB are just a waste of money! You need a good power plant to start with......... we have a 1.5 liter w/ 108hp.... i mean come on!

you can see my Eclipse at Scikotics.com. click on "user profiles" in the right column, then click on "clay"!

i agree with needing a good powerplant to start with. which is why i wouldnt turbo my 1nz if i were to race it, just to give it a little more. im not sure i would put the 4g63 in it because of the size, it's too big and would require way too much fabrication. something like a 4ag would be a much better choice.

p.s. im looking at a few first gen dsm's right now. any tips on what to look for when i purchase it?

the 4g63 is big, but thats all i know. thats why i said that. i'm estimating my Eclipse to dyno 600hp!

are you looking for a turo, or n/a 1g? I hate buying cars that have already been modded for 2 reasons.......1- the owner could have booty rigged ____ to get it back together just to sell it. as everyone in the DSM worl knows.... they are a f'ing headache. People just mod cars even if they don't have any sense in what they're doing! and 2- its not what you buy~its what you build!

I'm not talking about taking the motor out of the mits, baby. I'm talking an ADDITIONAL motor. it'll probably never happen tho. Instead of HOT BOX, it would BROKBOX

I was looking at a transplant however the dsm is 35 inches wide crank pully to trans end cap. The scion is 30 inches. So this wont be happening unless u tube frame the front. However you'd have no storage whatsoever if u put a 4g63 in the back.

whoa whoa.. holy crap man.. trying to rip the car in half. You would have to do a ton of frame work, suspension work and get new axles to keep the torque from ripping it to shreds... how about a turbo Vitz motor instead

I had to get after market axles on my Eclipse b/c i was snapping them left and right! i was scratching tires in 2nd gear until my tranny broke and i relized the more i abused it, the more ____ broke!

i'm not talking a 10 sec. motor in the XB. maybe for like a 11.01 or something...LOL

it would be a ____ load of work getting this to work. 1st you'd have to figure out how to get it in there, and then all the wiring, ecu, and ____ like that. it would be no easy task... thats for sure. but the sound of a turbo spooling, and the BOV releasing air in an XB would just be too cool!

One thing i can't do is weld. I had a buddy come over and weld my roll cage in, and he tried to teach me, but it lookied like ____. i don't have a welder either, so i can't practice.

anyways.... maybe some day i'll get a wild hair and start cutting ____ up... who knows. i'll be sure to do a write up on it if i ever get that far

yeah your wieght distribution would be 90/10. <--- not really but very front biased! :?
i'd say if you wanted a faster car the xB shouldnt be the car to
start off with.

unless like everyone is saying you have a money tree in the backyard
and can spend all that money on a fabricating everything needed to hold
the engine in place along with reinforcing the chassis.

im actually selling my DSM to get an xB. DSM's are so unreliable.
always breaking down. I've had it with Mitsu cars.
fun as hell to drive tho. nothing like blowing past stangs and camaros
and letting the BOV rip right next to their driver side window!

ahhh yes...good times.
