Engine shakes at idle, any suggestions?
My xB has 32,000 miles and has only recently started shaking at idle when in drive. It's bad enough that the dash is starting to make some noise.
Could it be a broken motor mount? It runs and drives OK (although painfully slow automatic.) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This might sound really crazy, buy try changing your oil and putting in Mobil1 5w30. I didn't have a chance to change me oil for a few thousand miles and mine would vibrate really bad at idle. I just changed it the other day and have not have the problem since.

What is it idling at if the idle is below 700 rpm it will shake and there were some of the last body style Camry's that would shake at idle but they were idling about 500 to 650 rpm.

I have tried Mobil1 5W30 full synthetic. It is louder than ever! I drove from Denver to Los Angeles at 4,000 rpm for 17 hours is so bad my ears were ringing. Then from Los Angeles back to Denver I put in Royal Purple 5W30 full synthetic and it is a LOT more quieter than Mobil1 5W30 at the same RPMs.
I am not trying to sell Royal Purple. I'm just saying try something else like Castrol full syn or Valvoline full syn or any other syn.

mobil 1 sucks, i use to use it and it made the engine very noisy, and tick at idle, when you have low milage and your car is making that kinda noise people tend to look at you, i use castrol 5w30 synthetic and it went away

Well I'll change the oil this weekend and see. Probably won't use synthetic b/c let's face it, Texas is a big state and the miles just tick away. I still need to check the idle rpm. It doesn't vibrate all the time, mostly when it's cold.

i just dont trust an oil like royal purple when they not to use it until the motor is broken when mobil 1 comes from the factory in alot of high dollar cars and i have never had any problems in the past running mobil 1 just my 2 cents

i think i have that problem too. does the idle fluctuate 100-200 rpms at idle? i hear the engine shudder and then the rpm fluctuate for a few seconds from time to time at idle.
i have no idea what it could be. all i know is that its NOT the engine oil.
