Default Everyone with an I/H/E setup

So, curiosity struck me and decided to go out and take a look at the xD. I went in with the outlook, if I liked how it looked and how it drove, i'll play with the idea of perhaps trading in my xA for it, IF the numbers were right. I went...liked the exterior looks and loved how many storage compartments it had. It has everything the xA has and then some. I took it for a test drive and I felt completely comfortable driving it from the time i pressed on the gas. Anyways, the test drive went well and I fell in love with the extra horsepower. Now, i'm trying to play with numbers and seeing if I can somehow get the xD payments within $20-40 of my current payment with my xA. If I try to upgrade to the xD, i already know that I won't be trading it in because they lowballed me HARD wanting to give me $8500 for my 06 w/ a meager 5k miles in great condition. I'll probably try to sell it privately if I decide to go along with it.

Anyways, i've babbled enough, my question is to all of the xB and xA (mostly xA) owners with an I/H/E setup, is the power gain noticeable? If it's in any way comparable to the xD's power, it'll make it much more easier for me to forget about the xD. Please post what I/H/E setup you all have and your comments. Thanks guys!

i have an xB with:
AEM CAI
Strup Header
GReddy Ti-C exhaust
AgencyPower Pulley.

IHE+P

I never had a "completely stock" box, but my setup is very peppy and responsive. definitely doesn't feel slow or lacking around the city.
The pulley will make the biggest difference in engine responsiveness.
Also think about this:
xB/xA are rated at pretty much 100-105 hp at the crank.
xD is rated at 128hp at the crank.
the xD will be faster stock than an xB/xA with IHE+P setup, ALTHOUGH the weight difference might make up for it. not quite sure.

I have an 06 xA with K&N CAI, Weapon-R Header, and custom axle back exhaust. The gain is noticeable but its not a "huge" gain. I raced my brothers xA which just has exhaust and I would say my car is probably 2-3/10 of a second faster in the quarter mile. So about 1 car length at the end of the quarter mile.

I as well have the I/H/E combination and the difference feels much nicer, the efficiency of the engine goes up incredibly. You might make an extra 10WHP with all these parts installed, but dont expect miracles. Im pretty sure the extra weight from the xD will kill the performance, besides 128HP, off of a 1.8L is kind of ridiculous, when you have your 1.8L celica with 180HP.

I say keep the xA and pimp it out, you also have to remember that not many people out there have xA's and the few that are around have to represent the scion community. There is nothing better than being the one of the few, and representing better than anybody else. Which is what happens to me at the scion evolution meeting here in PR. Everyone has an xB or a tC, 1 or 2 xA's, but non like mine.

I know theres LOTS and i mean LOTS of you with an I/H/E setup that aren't saying a thing, feel free to give out some useful info. If I stay with the xA, i'd like the parts to be all legal. As far as i'm aware, there isn't a CAI that's legal for an 06. Anyone know if the AEM CAI works with the 2006 xA? I'm probably looking into putting on an AEM CAI, TRD exhaust and who knows what header. But I have been hearing good things about Injen, so who knows.

For any that have the I/H/E setup and have test driven the xD, what are your opinions of comparison in power? Oh and some important info, I have an auto (i know, i know). Hopefully some will chime in.

well i have a 05xb with a short ram intake didnt really notice any power gain but it does sound nice LOL and to tell you the truth an intake header and exhaust really isnt werth the money for the power gain my 2 cents are get a dry 30 shot nos kit with a wot switch and youl be able to beat any other xa with a i/h/e/p - on top of that youl have a very reliable and stealthy xa and when u wana show off all u do is flip a switch and its cheaper than takeing the i/h/e route

Did you notice much from the TB spacer and the engine damper?

The extra power isn't me wanting to show off, personally. I just want an overall peppier and faster car for freeway driving and passing power. Nitrous wouldn't be an answer for me cuz i'm not out there racing this thing or thinking im too cool for school. The reason why I made this thread was because I test drove the xD and it's of course speedier than the xA with the bigger engine and the fact that if the right things happen I can perhaps sell the xA and buy the 08 xD with only about $20-40 difference a month in payments, which isn't shabby at all. I just want something comparable to the xDs power even if does take a few bolt-ons on the xA. I'm still on the fence about it and the possibility is definitely there but I have to still get an approval for an app. I did for the credit union a couple of days ago. I'm silently hoping I don't get approved so I can just move on. But I guess we'll see. Keep posting up your set ups and opinions, thanks to everyone that has commented.

Well, after a short stint of waiting and thinking about it, I decided to keep the xA. I know i'd feel regret if I let my baby go. So, continue on with your set-ups! Cuz now i'm looking to add some "performance" parts to the xA.

the throttle body space improved throttle response but i couldn't tell much if any difference in power.

with the engine damper in place i feel less sluggish during harder take offs , and I KNOW the motor moves much less in the engine compartment but extra noise is transmitted into the cabin

How bad is the vibration in the cabin after a damper install? That little fker moves around a lot in the bay.
