any universal with a nice silencer shall do. all exhausts are smog legal. my suggestion is for a non f.i. car would be 2.0 with hiugh flowing glasspack resonator and then any universal muffler that can use a silencer. if yer gonna go f.i. then go 2.25 cat back. with same components.

Tanabe Hypermedallion axleback.

A bit pricey, but it is definitely quieter than the Magnaflow set-up I have now. I'm not knocking my current set-up, but when I had the Tanabe on my xB, I heard the air being sucked by the short ram over the exhaust at 75-80 mph on the freeway.

Any round canister will be louder than an oval. Why? Because there is less dampening inside the muffler.

If you go with a custom axleback, try and get 2.25 inch piping, and see how much more it'll be to get the piping from the resonator back changed over to 2.25 inch piping also.

The Magnaflow axle-back is actually a nice sounding muffler. It's just audible enough to hear across the band. Everyone who has ridden in my xB has commented on how much they like the sound. It's deep, not buzzy. Props to Gabe at Precisionmuffler.com for a great installation!
