exhaust notes.........questions
i herd the greddy system.......and damn no offense to anybody that has it but sounded like poo poo. buzzing like a bumble bee and when he got out of the gas it sounded like a neon does.....like a REALLY ____ed off bumble bee.(i think that we all know the sound im talkin about
) i know there is a lot more systems out there than just the greddy but if anybody can help with what some of them sound like that would be great. low deep tone
little if any "buzz" as much as possible out of a 1.5 anyway, is what im lookin for. if it makes a difference, witch i know it does, ill be getting hedders, and short ram intake soon too. thanks for your help. i dont know if its possible to post sounds or not but if anybody does that be cool.
To answer your query, I was having the same dilemma as you. Having just had my AEM cold air intake installed on my ’05 xB, I decided it was time to upgrade the exhaust system. There are so many systems out there that this choice can be confusing. I heard all the audio clips out there, but you simple can get the feel of how it will really sounds until you actually hear one live. Having said that, I decided that I would go my own way. I used Eggie’s (he’s on this forum) idea that an oval muffler looks best and in my opinion makes the best sound. Like Eggie, I used a Magnaflow 14879 (can be had on the net for about 100-120 bucks). I then had my local muffler shop build me a custom bolt-on axle back system (I have pics). It only cost me $200 for the whole shebang and that's including installation (really not bad for here in NY) and it sounds GREAT with a nice rich, deep tone and no drone at 65 !
Let's face it, these cars will never sound like a ballsy v6 or v8. I will say that my car now feels and sounds like a European sports car and every trip is a pleasure!

I just installed a Strup muffler on my xB, and it sounds better live than their web site. (www.strup.us) This after I installed a Megan header this weekend. I will let folks know tomorrow night how it sounds on a 4.5 hour drive to Flagsatff...
Well spent 2 days on the road and the noise was not bad at 80-90 mph. It felt like there was more ommph when I punch the gas. I will post dyno sheets on the 18th...

They are all very mellow and low key. ZERO BUZZ.

but yes keep in mind you only have 1.5 leiters of dieplacement.
Bottles of pepsi have more dieplacement

i've got the GReddy EVO 2 on my box, with the AEM cold air induction and headers... it has a nice sound, no buzzing at all. The performance is noticeably increased as well... at least i'm not sweating on those onramps anymore...
