That's a very subjective question.

I have a Weapon-R header and a Precision Muffler axleback. The response and pickup is excellent.

I noticed a huge difference after installing the header, and then noticed another performance boost after swapping my TRD exhaust for the Precision one.

So that's my vote, but there are tons out there.

I'd say, do the header first, and then find an exhaust with a tone that you like.

the stock muffler and exhaust is the best solution. you will lose plenty of low end torque and back pressure with a fart can.

The stock system is restrictive. If you do it right, you will see some gains and minimal loss of torque.

the only gain you will receive is increased fuel consumption due to you wanting to hear your new loud exhaust system. you will think it is faster because you're going to goose the gas pedal, but in reality, you'll be stuck with a louder but less efficient vehicle. Besides whats the difference between 103 bhp and 104 bhp? Don't claim you're trying be faster when all you will really want is a "cooler" looking ride. If you want faster, save your money for a real car. Econoboxes were not meant to be fast. Do your homework and save your money IMHO

So even after you're done mashing the pedal for a cool sound the mileage is worse?

I can floor it everywhere and get 32mpg or go slow and get 37mpg. It's not a lot of difference in money.

I want a header/exhaust as well.

I have a Megan header and Ganador exhaust. Love the Ganador, very quiet, like stock, but still straight thru design for hp increase. It has 2 mufflers actually. Titanium build too. But expensive.

Y'know, I've seen this before... most of the people here enjoy modifying their cars... if you're only going to offer negative input, I don't think you're going to get a whole lot out of this forum. There are systems out there with proven gains and no significant loss in torque.

you have to take the negative with the positive. Not everyone has the same opinions and the internet is THE place gain all relevant viewpoints. Go ahead and dump cash into your headers, intakes, and exhaust pipes. If that's how you want to enjoy your hard earned cash cool. If someone else offers a differing viewpoint, take it or leave it, and move on.

I was running a dc sports exhaust and loved it! I have not installed a header yet

best way to figure out what you want is look around for sound clips.

If people wanted to "save there money" they would have gotten an aveo or yaris.
Some people like to "waste money" and mod there cars.

I have the strup header and axle-back muffler, works for me.

Default their: the possessive case of they used as an adjective

Sounds like someone needs to reconsider Junior College. People don't save "there" money and mod "there" cars (maybe JC dropouts do) - People save their money and mod their cars. Scion Xbs are in the same economy class as a Yaris and an Aveo, and people mod those too. Think before you post. Junior College is very cost effective, or you can have your mom proofread before you post, so you don't make a fool of yourself in front of the whole internet.
