Default Greddy SP2 exhaust noise level...

So I just installed a Greddy SP2 axle-back exhaust on my xA. I have an Injen short ram intake on it, but the exhaust is so quiet that I can barely hear it over the sound of the intake when I'm getting on the throttle. Perhaps it'll get louder as the system breaks in, but I really don't know.

I'm planning on installing a header on the car, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if the exhaust note will change/increase in loudness once the header is on? Also, if anyone has Greddy SP2 experience, I'd like to hear if theirs is similar to mine.

Thanks.

Yes. Installing a performance header should give you a difference in tone, although I am not familiar with Greddy's line, so I'm unable to describe what sound you should expect. When I installed new headers and exaust on my Civic, the tone became deeper and more full after I broke it in. It was still very quiet (even with 2.5 inch exhaust) right after installation, but became louder over a short amount of time. Might have been a few days to a week or so. I hope this helps a little.

My question to you is, what kind of gains (horsepower) did you experience with the axleback (if any)? I've been searching for full cat-back exhaust systems, but haven't turned up anything that seems reliable.

Thanks!

Thanks for your info regarding the exhaust post-header installation. I'm researching them for my next mod.

Over just several days of use the new exhaust became just a bit louder than it was right after I installed it. It's still quiet, but it seems deeper and a bit louder under load.

Also, to answer your question, my throttle response is definitely better, and despite that most people report no power gains from an axle-back, and that an axle-back is no more than a placebo effect, the car does pull better. It is most noticeable when I keep the RPMs up and then gun it, like say when you're wound up in 4th gear at speed and wanna pass on a two lane road. The low end is just a bit better as well, but this car miserably lacks low end to begin with.

I got the Greddy SP2 for $250, so it wasn't too expensive a mod. It was cool, b/c even my girlfriend, who doesn't care about cars, said it looked nice, so that was a cool surprise.

Hope this helps.

wow! that's a really great price for a greddy sp2.

how much power do you think you're making? i saw K&N's CAI only makes ~5hp... with a catback do you think you're gaining 10 whp?

Import Tuner had an xB with DC Sports exhaust, DC Sport header, and AEM cold-air intake and got +6.8 HP and +4.5 TQ all together

Kinda depressing...

I can't give you an answer on the hp/torque increase numbers.

I'm just letting you know that it is noticeable, regardless of what the numbers are. These mods aren't too expensive, and well, if it increases my quality of life, even if at the minimum I get a better sound, then it's worth it. However, I can feel the increase, without a doubt.

I got it for $257 from Optionimports.com w/$25.00 shipping (no tax). The bang for the buck is excellent.

yea the greddy sp2 series is one of the quietist exhausts. Along with rsr ex-mag. Both have a good rep. with not being annoyingly loud. LOL i dont understand why you guys even care about numbers though lol. IT's still going to be one slow ****. IMO this car shouldnt be taken to seriously about gains lol.
