Hella hot weather. Slowing down the box, suggestions?
So it's been hella hot lately, and I've been getting a tan. ; ) But I went to see my girlfriend in Stockton, CA and it was a little over a 100 degrees out, after the fireworks on the 4th it was still like 90 degrees, sweating like a pig and the sun barely went down. My car has been running very unresponsive. During warm-up it's understandable.
But in hot weather, it seems that I have to press down on the gas halfway before my car even starts moving. Trying to time and get across traffic is scary cause I don't know if my car is going to launch or creep before it kicks in. It's when you're trying to get into moving traffic and you say "I can make it!" And then you punch it.... and your car yawns, takes a deep breath, and finally decides to go.
Is there anything I can do to improve it's responsiveness in really hot weather? And this mainly happens in really hot weather because it's only been occurring recently when either my car sits in the sun or is outside (my car is usually in a garage)
Octane booster? Fill up with supreme? Anything that will help keep my engine cooler? Thanks and enjoy your summer ;)

Hah! Engine swap?
Yeah it sucks because it's too hot to even keep all the windows down so the AC is better but with the AC blasting it's pretty whack.
If you have the AC on and you're going up hill, press the AC button and go "NITROUS BOOST!" And then it takes off its pretty funny.
But yeah.

hot air mieans the air is thinner so u get less air in ur engine hense why they have a CAI beacuse cold air is thicker so u get more air into ur engine and ur go faster...lol maybe a CAI

I noticed this too, the girlfriend uses the xB and she lives in Palm Springs at the moment for school. You know how the weather is there, its 120 degree weather. The car struggles so much since we have the A/C on. It's scary cuz the car shakes and struggles. I'm scared to use during these times, so we keep it in the garage and use the other car.
I'm really considering the xB2 now.
My only suggestion, don't push the car so much. There's not much you can do.

Yeah seriously. It was 105 the other day and it never gets that hot... Im not used to that weather ha. But yeah, I was trying not to push it but it was sort of inevitable with the traffic I was facing. It's just very very noticeable with the AC on in hot weather.

It's great to see a post like this. I live in Tempe, Arizona. And it's been above 110 for the last week and a half. I have an 06 xb. I have also noticed during mid day driving this thing just struggles. I have also noticed my gas mileage taking a crap.
Lol yeah let me go get some nitrous and blast that all the way to the north pole.
I'm talking realistically. lol. no one has anything?
Are there like super duper aftermarket radiators and fluids that aren't like for turbos and stuff?

Do any of you have a scanguage or old2 scanner n know what ur intake temp is? I've had my intake temp on a stock intake go up to 135* and yes it did feel sluggish but not too bad. I wouldn't do nitrous just to cool the intake temp down. If you have a aftermarket metal intake you can set something up using CO2 to cool the intake charge. Alot better than nitrous since you don't have to run premium fuel and change out ur spark plugs.

How many miles do you have on the intake filter, if it's a CAI and you've got over 5k, I suggest cleaning/replacing the filter. It's not relative to the weather, but the filter might be choking and the outcome is more noticeable in the warmer weather when power is lower.
I do actually have about 5k on my intake, I've been meaning to get some filter cleaner so I can wash it out. Can anyone recommend me to some good cleaner? I saw some on a website I had bookmarked but I'll have to find it. I could probably do a good google too...
About the temperature, I would have no clue how hot its running and it is a metal aftermarket intake. So whats the deal on the CO2?

Yeah I just saw the K&N stuff doin a google search. Ill probably pick some up when I get some money. When I bought my intake (I got it used from someone) it was super duper clean, looked almost brand new, I haven't seen it since then but 5k isn't too bad. Wouldnt hurt to clean it though...
