I'm ready to buy a cold air intake but...
well I have a volant CAI. I like mine. It sounds a lot better over stock. Volant is on the expensive side. I don't know anything about fujita. If you go volant, you should get the ram air attachment. It comes with two pieces that channel cool air from the fender well, and the fog light housing. I started with the box only, but after I got the ram air pipes my MPG went up by 4 and I noticed better engine response.
The box takes up a lot of the engine bay so thats down side. You can't really reach the battery terminals with the box installed.
Volans is supposed to be the "best" but I don't think it really matters with our small engine which CAI you go with. Just be sure you get one that pulls air from outside the engine bay. I am very happy with my Volant. Some people bash Volant out of ignorance. I can't say anything about any other brand of CAI because this is the only one I have had on my box. I went with volant because hardly anyone had it on theirs, and because of theor rep on other vehicles. On larger engines it is the best one IMO.
Ill try to post up some pics if you want.

Here are some pics
Nevermind the yellowing bumper. Its an invisible bra that will be coming off soon.
Drivers side fog light housing ram air inlet

As you can see, it takes up alot of space in the engine bay.

I think it looks clean though.

IMO the Volant and Fujita are mostly for looks (underhood bling). If you want a true cold air intake I'd go with either the Injen short ram or the YDR knock off like I have. It draws cool/ outside air from infront of the drivers side wheelwell. They sound good and give real performance because of the short design and from where they get the air supply from. Those long aluminum designs that route all over the underhood area alow time for the airflow to pick up un wanted heat. The mulitple bends also create unwanted turbulance and restrictions. My 2 cents.
Thank you for your advise. Dman the volant looks really nice on your XB. I've been reading about the volant and they say that it gives up to 18 extra horse power. That doesn't soud bad man.
Bb2ner so the injen is good also? I'm gonna have to read about that one because I'm looking for the one with the highest performance.
Thank you people!

But...I can tell you right now that the Volant is not going to give you 18hp, nor will any other intake on the market. That may be true on a large engine like a v-8 350 but not ours.
You are looking more like 3hp, maybe 5 hp tops... but like I said earlier, thats going to be with any intake from the research I've done.
On another thought about the injen, I have heard that they are also good intakes. They get the cool air from behind the bumper down low in front of the front wheel. Correct me if I'm wrong bb2ner, i think they also have a bypass inlet in case you go through some high watter. Good intake.
The volant (with the ram air kit) gets cool air from outside the car completly. The air goes into the fog light tube, up into the box. There is also an inlet from inside the fender well. And if you do go with volant you will see the distance from the filter to the TB is very short and not curvy. IMO a very good design. I argued with a guy on here a while ago about the volant... he said it will make you LOSE hp. I was like "whhhaaaat"? Anyways he's a big fat moron because I thought he had some statistics or something... he was just blowing smoke. He's only seen volant in a picture LOL.
Volant is expensive
No matter which you go with, the hp is not going to go up very much, but every little bit does count IMO.

I like the Injen design for the 2 reasons given. It's not as flashy but it works. That's the important reason to me. It's also nice cause it costs less.
i have a k&n intake and i love it. not only does it improve sound quality giving the engine a deeper more throaty sound, it also improves throttle response. mpg and hp are at minimum for being improved, just like all others.
i've got the fujita cai and i'm pretty happy with it. if you have factory fog lights be sure to pick up the extension piece from them so the air filter will clear the fog light.

I can't see much of the first one but if it just goes straight out instead of turning down then that is the one that is like my YDR knockoff. The one that turns down creates slight restrictions at the 90 degree bend.
