Default Info on thermostats for anybody interested...

I was looking at the TRD thermostat, but couldn't bring myself to pay the $100 shipped for one. So I did some searching...

The stock thermostat opens at 180 degrees F:

I found the TRD for about $85 shipped from eBay.
The TRD opens at 160 degrees.

Mishimoto also sells a thermostat for $60-
The Mishimoto opens at 160 degrees.

I was surprised to find that Autozone sells a cooler opening thermostat under their brand name for $25!!
It is the "durolast" thermostat part #4107. It opens at 170 degrees. It's still 10 cooler than stock and doesn't cost much more than stock to replace.
The stores don't carry it, so it was ordered and is arriving tomorrow.

Just thought I'd share this info for anybody that didn't find it already. For me this is ideal- I don't want to spend so much, but want the car to run a little cooler (but not so cold since winters here are nasty).
Always a less expensive way.

Hope this info is useful.

That's good info indeed. TRD of course doesn't manufacture thermostats (neither does Toyota) so theirs are just repackage that could be made by anybody like Stant, Denso, etc.
