Ingen advice - help!
Can anybody educate me on maintence for my Ingen CAI? I got my xB used, and have no documentation on the CAI.
How often do you clean the filter?
How do you clean the filter?
Any tricks for removing the filter (like do you need to remove the headlight to access it?)?
Thanks!

If you have what's commonly referred to as the short ram, where the pipe runs almost straight into the driver's side fender, you can loosen the clamp and drop the filter out through the bottom. It is a pain to get the filter back on because it sticks. I had to put a little oil around the the inside so it would slide back on the tube.
Go to your local auto parts place and buy a K&N recharge kit. That has the cleaner and oil you need to do the job right.
As far as how often, some do it every 10000 - 15000 miles like replacing a regular filter. Other documentation I've seen, specifically from K&N, is that you can go 50000 miles before cleaning.
Good luck!

Thanks - sounds about like I thought, pretty straightforward.
Yeah, it's a short ram. Yeah, it looks like a little contortion is needed to get the filter on/off.
With the grime on this thing, though, I would never let it go even 20K! It is brown with dirt!
