I got one of these Oil Pan Heaters after thinking about them for awhile. I just put it on after I got home work so the pan was still a bit warm.
This also made the RTV kinda runny LOL. Later once its fully cold I'll plug it in and take some temps after x time and see how it works.
Why not just go with an OEM block heater? There's already a hole in the block specifically designed to take the heater and you don't need to deal with that mess of silicone, which I cannot imagine transfers heat all that well anyway.

OEM heater was like $50 if I remember right.
I have one of those too. It doesn't really warm the oil but it helps a lot. I have this 10w seed starter mat I keep my feet warm on while I'm at the desk and I think if this is really 250w it'll get super hot haha. The rtv slathered on is just to keep sealed up i guess. Its clean metal under the pad
So after 30 minutes of being on the oil pan went from 40 to 56 degrees. 30 mins later it got up to 67. Starting the car after that though was very nice... like it wasn't sitting all day lol. I'm trying to think which is better... the pan heater or the block heater. Like if you could only have one or the other. I'm kind of thinking the oil pan heater is better.
If you live where it gets cold I recommend it. This one I got was $28 and its not hard to attach
