Default Just got a Scan Gauge, I got some Questions

whats up, I just got my scan gauge and set it up.

1.) Engine size is 1.5L and Fuel tank is ~12 gallon right?
2.) How do I determine my offset? What is the proper offset for a 2005 xB? Right now I got it at the default 24

Thanks!

alright thanks, I checked the SG manual and it said to make the cutoff +4 whatever the resting TPS (throttle position) is, if that helps anyone else out who may have been wondering.

emximer, i also set my speedo to 3% to correct the speedo. i used a nav to figure that out.

i have a scanguage, and i don't know what this offset thing is.

whatever it is, maybe it'll help my fuel economy finally read right.

To adjust the offset you got to goto MORE>FUEL>OFFSET I believe. It just adjust at what throttle position your car stops feeding gas to the engine, ie when your engine breaking, usually when the RPMs are above 1700 and you're not using the gas pedal.

14 was the right offset for me. I also had to bump my speed up a few notches on my SC

i'll have to try that out emximer, thanks.

what did you actually do to come up with this "14". my car is almost stock w/ the exception of my CAI. so i wonder if i have to calibrate it from scratch, or if I could just input this "14" and be good

I set my Scan gauge to 11 gallons, just so I'm not tempted to run it down to the last drop.

Aren't our cars like 11.6 gallons anyway?

11.999, basically 12, if there is an option for 11.5, that would be a bit better.

i was thinking of getting a scangauge my self after using a buddies to get a code i was throwing at the time. it's freakin' awesome!

The cutoff is for off throttle coasting. It should be fine at 24. Basically, in the real-time gauges, cycle one of the 4 to MPG and go on the highway. If you lift your foot off the gas, it should read 9999 MPG, then adjust the offset to be the lowest possible, but still read 9999MPG during off throttle. I just left mine at 24 and it reads slightly low (avg tank reading is 22-23mpg, real MPG is 23-25).

What are the cutoff and offset settings for?
Im running an Injen SR CAI, and Tsudo exhaust, and rolling on 17" rims, I dunno if thats gonna change anything setting wise.

CarbonXe pretty much explained it.

the cutoff and offset are based on off throttle coasting E.I. similar to engine braking or same thing. you are basically putting the settings in for what points the engine will be in fuel cut mode during engine braking or off throttle coasting down to a certain engine speed say like 1,500rpm or so when it starts getting close to the idle point of the engine. during engine braking or off throttle coasting, you don't use any fuel because the ECU puts the engine into fuel cut mode until around the mid 1,000's area somewhere where it starts to send fuel in for a smooth approach to idle.

Mine idles between 750 and 1200 RPM's. Is this a bad thing? I can coast in 2nd gear at about 1500 with my foot off the gas. Does anyone know the exact cutoff point for an xB or is it different for everyone? My only mods are intake and exhaust.

Do you mean yours idles at 1200 rpm when you first start the car? Mine will be around there right wen you start it for a few seconds and as it warms up it will go down to approximately 600. I have a standard too, that might matter. Just a thought, anyone ever mess with your throttle body to increase or decrease the idle? It wont hurt it if it's always at 1200, you'll just burn more gas.
