Default Looking for opinions on the cat for xB header-back prototype

The main issue we're having is what to do about the catalytic converter, just trying to get some opinions on it. We're thinking 2.25" mandrel bent piping with or without cat.

edit: It's looking to be at least $70 over the usual price to include a real high flow cat for those of you voting.

I would say keep the cat on... It will improve your customer base.. because people wont have to worry about getting hassled by there local authorites and laws.. Maybe you can put a high flow cat on to help with the flow and still stay legal.

yea, the main thing is that its VERY illegal to run a straight pipe, which i think wouldn't be popular with most. just trying to get a feel for what people want

if everything works out it's gonna be all stainless, most likely 2.25" mandrel piping, n1 muffler.

well the axlebacks that are out now are pretty much catbacks, thats why we're thinking about designing a headerback

hU? but axelbacks dont even have larger piping, do they?? what is the n1 muffler, please no slanted tip.

we're definitely doing straight-out N1 style. the axelback piping is the same diameter at the flange, but we want to design something without having to cut and clamp after the cat.

I vote the system has a straight pipe. My friend's sti runs no cats and it's amazing. I live in Orange County as well and would definitely be up for being the test car

Also, have you thought about just making a header back mid section? So people can use their own axle-backs? I realllly hope you develop a midsection that can be purchased seperately!!

He's right, I'd rather give up the 2-3% hp gains (with our lil engines) to stay CARB legal
