i read something about this somewhere but i cant remember where... something about magnetizing the fuel line just before it enters the engine by placing two magnets directly on the line? it mentioned something about improving gas mileage... sounds kinda weird to me but i was just wondering if anyone knew if this "mod" had any merrit or if it is just some bs

This page will explain the magnetizing thingy works. I know in Japan, Top Fuel company has their own brand of magnetic thingy, which is supposed to help, if I remember correctly, those costs about $150. Not a decent price to pay for MAGNETS, but if it works I guess you're getting back your investments. :?

 

Yeah, that's a bunch of bs. Fuel is not sensative to magnetic fields.

Are you guys for real? Look up RUBE in the dictionary. Do you think for one second that if Toyota or any other manufacturer could perceptbly increase their CAFE average at the nominal production expense of adding a few magnets to a fuel line, that they would have done this a long time ago? Are you guys chewing on paint chips or something? I'd like to personally invite you fellers over to my invitation only garage sale next month. I've got some really neat ____ on the cheap! ok i take it back... i spent a little time searching for info on this and all the sites that said it works were sites selling it and all the others were sites slamming it. this is another tornado there are actually some websites that advertise the two together... so it is BS... may bad though. the only reason why i thought it was a possibility was because one of my buddys is studdying engineering and some tool in his program was thinking about doing his thesis on this topic... so once again MY BAD. ITS BS

I've never heard about adding magnets to the fuel line, but I know the make magnets for your oil filters. It collects microscopic metallic objects flowing through your oil when passing by the filter. It holds them in the oil filter as to not return to the engine. They are re-usable, so you can pull em off one oil filter and slap em on the next when you change your oil.

 

Any metal particles that are small enough to pass through a TOYOTA oil filter (this is the one you should be using!) are of no consequence to your engine. The bearing clearances are greater than the filters micronic size so any particles would not touch both bearing surfaces and therefore are harmless. I can't stress enough how much marketing plays into these ingenious solutions to nonexistant problems. Any of this "technology" would have been "borrowed" by the car manufacturers way before you would have ever heard of it. And the list goes on, Magnets, 50 MPG carburettors, Motor rebuild in a can, Slick 50, Amsoil, Many octane-boosters, Jacobs Ignitions, Tornadoes, Half the ____ in JC Whitney, etc.................... Aren't metal fuel lines aluminum? So how is this magnet thing supposed to work? And aren't fuel filters effective enuff in this day and age?

 

If you guys want to buy this BS cheap (relatively) go to your nearest Harbor Freight Tool store. They sell a fuel magnetizer for around 12 bucks. You could try it out for the rest of us sceptics.

 

The "theory" is that the magnetic field somehow alters the molecular structure of the gasoline. Magnetic fields penetrate just about any non-ferrous metal or rubber line.

Now, I quickly add that there is no evidence that this works at all. Save your money for something useful like more stickers.
