Default More TRAC VSC and engine lights :(

I've seen tons of posts abiout these lights coming on, but don't recall/can't find any specific posts with my problem. About a year ago, I had these lights come on from a broken cam timing sensor, which I replaced. Recently, the lights came back, but only for about half a day, then turned off. They'd be off for about a week, then repeat a similar cycle. Has anyone else had the same problem when they go on and off random days? Does anyone know the possible problem before I look into getting it repaired? I should note I haven't noticed anything different/wrong with it, and I keep it well maintained.

Mine has been doing that lately. I took it to autozone to have the code read and it said it was running lean. The sales person was real helpful. He owns a very cleanly modded RSX. He has seen my car around and has always wanted to check it out. He suggested that I try some fuel injector cleaner and cleared the code for me. It stayed off for awhile until recently. Went back to have it read again to see whats up. Same thing. Except I got a different person that time and they wouldn't clear it. So I left it. Filled up with gas and it randomly turned off.

I think I'm getting bad gas, because I usually go to the same place. I filled up while it was on and it turned off. Then turned back on again at about a 1/4 tank. Going to try a different place this time and see what happens.

After getting gas at a different place that has non ethanol gas. The check engine, VCS, and TRAC lights are off now. I tried to run the gas gauge down as low as possible before I filled up, to get any of the older gas out. It took a few miles before they went off, but they are off now.

mine comes on and goes off for no reason...

no codes being thrown either, which is strange.. i chocked it up to splicing into my ecu wiring when i had the apex-i safc unit, i thought maybe there was a voltage drop of some kind after i removed it, but everything checks out, no partial cut wires, etc...

when they do come on, i usually shut off, and restart the engine, they always go away when i do that. Mine never shut off on their own while driving though, and they seem to come on more when the temp is hot outside, never in the winter or cooler weather, but once the temp gets to about 98ish they will come on intermittently at start up. I always get gas at the same few places, and i doubt that its for me, because sometimes they will come up if i gas up at chevron with 92oct, sometimes at mobile 87-92oct, and also at arco 87oct if i am feeling cheap.. I live in so cal, and i dont think that our gas stations change their mix for winter / summer, but i could be wrong...

also, i'm driving an 04 manual if that helps anyone..

Try disconnecting the scan guage 2 you got.
They have a problem that sets off the "three amigos" that they never got around to fixing before mine went out my window @65.
Got tired of them showing up and no codes were ever set.
Just a suggestion.

Yes, I just had the problem at 45k. It was intermittent and seemed not to affect the engine at all. They went off and on 2 or 3 times in 10 days so I took it in. It was a bad cam gear and was covered under warranty.

covered under warrenty at 45k? Did you have the extended warrenty, or does the cam gear have some special extended warrenty on it, ot was there some voulentary recall on this?

MrSocks, can you give a little more details?

Ive searched and searched my vehicle for all the various causes of the lights. I only have the VSC and Trac off lights.
Things Ive checked:
Reset my ECU
All trac. control connections at the wheels
MAF sensor
EVAP system for problems
wheel allignment
O2 sensor connections
Im guessing it almost has to be the problem with the TSB. Any other sugestions before I go to the dealer? Any idea if I can check the cam sensor before I go?

Don't most people with a bad cam pos sensor get a code thrown? What gets me is that i'm not getting any codes thrown when the lights come up, and I fear that if i go into the dealer, they wont get a code either, and will claim its not a bad sensor, if that is the real cause of my issue....

Same problem here. Ive took it to Advance and they cant get it to throw a code. Just the lights are on and I dont have traction control. As far as drivability goes, it runs fine. I havent noticed any change in idle or anything. The gear itself is like $220 and the labor is gonna be about the same. If I take it in and they do change it, that will be about $500 and the problem might not be resolved. I just dont want to go pay lots of money for the problem not to get fixed when I could have fixed it if it is something simple.

I cured my"three amigos" by getting rid of my SGII
When they came back on , I was really up set then , I checked my tail lights , they had a bad ground, fixed that by scrapping the paint off where they were grounded, They went away after I also changed my bulbs.

Never gotten them again. This is just a list of things I did to get rid of them that you might try. Who knows maybe our cars are smart enough to let us know when something is going to go bad.

I guess you lucked up to find the ground with no other problems. I wish mine would be that easy. I havent changed my lights or anything like that. The only thing electrical I have changed is my H/U, amp, and Ractive gauge cluster. Everything else is stock. I guess I could check all my amp connections and make sure they are grounded good. The only "problem" im having is I have no traction control. I dont know how to check traction control system to see if maybe it has just went bad. Any other ideas?

Everything electrical is grounded to the body/frame to some sort.

XBdrivinsgt , you fiddled with stuff under the dash. Have you tried checking all the connections , a faulty pin can cause the problems. You may have jiggled a connection loose.

I get TCS VSC and ABS coming on occasionally. MY anti-lock brakes were not working when I kinda needed them. A guy was walking a horse across the road and didn't see me coming around the corner, I locked the brakes but I was okay.
