Default My Strup V2.0 axleback review

In case anyone else was wondering about axlebacks (as I was) I thought I'd write a review for my new exhaust.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Excellent overall. I ordered saturday, Dave emailed me to tell me the various stages my exhaust was in (processing, etc.) He also gave me a tracking number for DHL.
Skip ahead to today, I received it, no problems at all.

QUALITY
Top notch, nothing happened to it during shipping, still sparkling. The system felt solid, with thick welds and mandrel bent tubing. Excellent overall.

INSTALL
Very simple, took me longer to walk to my friends house a few houses down to borrow some jack stands than to install. Fit perfectly, no rubbing on the sides of the bumper.

SOUND
Probably the thing I most looked forward to when I installed was the start up sound. It made me grin. At idle it had a low, almost guttural sound I love. At acceleration, it made even a 1.5L sound tough. When I hit the freeway and 70 MPH I was impressed with how quiet it is, no droning discernable.

PERFORMANCE
This is one thing I didn't expect to find much of, and honestly, it isn't a huge leap. However, I actually did feel a difference. The car felt a little quicker to respond and take off. At high speeds (60+) I noticed the RPMs were lower than normal. I imagine this was due to the engine running more freely.

OVERALL
The most satisfactory buy I've had on my xB. Excellent in all aspects, and all for $260 shipped to me. I would highly recommend Strup to anyone I know (or don't) and also Partshippers to go through.

ummm no.... NOT possible..... at least not noticeably.....

it's easier to get up to speed maybe. but with just an axle back you only got like 2whp.....

as far as rpm actually dropping? um NO. at least not on any manual...... or any auto unless your scion now has a cvt aka continuously variable transmission. which scions do not possess.

i remember some readers who bought the 2.0 version had problems with the hangers, etc. and had to take it to the muffler shop for corrective action ...

anybody really knows if this problem has been corrected?

so that there are no problems with installation?

Yes it is possible. This is true with other cars I've had as well. There's no way for me to prove it to you unfortunately, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

Nice Review...Does it scrape when you go over speed bumps? In the pictures I have seen of the Strup and some others, it apperrs that it is pretty low especially on a slammed box.

Thanks, and no I haven't scraped. I got the V2.0 which is 2 inches higher than the original. No problems there.

The strup exhaust is nice, very nice. Materials and all. I even emailed Mr. Westrup about a silencer and he himself emailed me, a few days later I got an email wishing me happy holidays. The Partshippers were excellent also, Dave and Jeff were both very helpful.

As far as the hanging/hanger issue. It's really not a big deal infact I blame DHL for dropping the package. Fotunately I work at a shop so the mechanic and I were able to fix it up right. If you have problems getting it on, go to a shop and have them get it on right. It only took the mechanic and me about 15 minutes to get the axleback to fit and hang right. It's a nice piece of equipment.
