To keep it simple, there is a pulley which your engine spins. If you get a lighter one than what is on there, your engine does not have to work as hard to spin that pulley, so the power your engine makes is not wasted on spinning that extra weight. That power goes somewhere else... like making you go.

Yes, you can get them for automatics.

A lightend crank pulley allows less rotational mass for spinning, beacuse it is lighter (somone please correct me if im wrong, i get the lightened pulley and the under drive mixed up somtimes), this allows the car to rev quicker. I personally think it is worth getting, but there are big debates over it and yes you can put it on an automatic(thats what mine is).

Booo to Ben for typing faster then me.

yup, the lightened pulley reduces the rotational mass at that point in the engine motor process, thus allowing more power to "flow" through to the wheels, thus seemingly making "more power".

an underdriven pulley typically would have a smaller diameter and thus allowing the point at the pulley to spin faster and thus seemingly make more power. however, the downside to an underdriven pulley is that it almost always reduces the amount of recharging and electronic stability for the electrical systems in the vehicle and may cause many problems if not enough power makes it through. (i hope i'm correct on this?)

i just ordered an Agency Power lightened crank pulley, so i'll see how it goes ~

Well there are 3 companies(maybe more) that I know that make them. ZPI, Perrin and Agency. Do a search and you can find some good prices, proably around $130 maybe even cheaper.

Well with the right tools, some knowledge, and lots of pateince it is possible. There is a write-up in the Tech section on here about doing it. Of all the mods I have done, this was the hardest one, but it helps if you try and put the belt on the right way . Check the write-up and see if it is somthing you would want to attempt. If you do decide to do it just be very careful.
