Default Ok, so here's my pics/reviews of the Blitz Induction Cover

Overview: Basically, the Blitz Induction Cover (BIC) replaces the bottom portion of the stock airbox with a hot looking aluminum basket that obviously looks a hell of alot less restrictive than the stock portion. It also come with a performance filter from thier "LM Stock Replacement Filter" (creative name huh?) to replace the crappy stock filter. I guess you can say that it makes it into a short ram intake, but still retaining the stock piping! I was running the K&N CAI (loves it), but replaced it with this, mainly because it looked interesting looks-wise and performance-wise. That and I am HUGE JDM *****, and I just had to drop my USDM parts and get back on my sworn oath to keep it JDM.

Install: Let me start off with this....this a JDM product with VERY JDM characters!! So yeah, thankfully it was super easy to figure out how to install it. I'm not gonna go into much detail though. Afterall, it's just a review, not a tech But seriously, very easy to figure out and 10x easier to install.

Test Drive: As I said before I was running the K&N prior to the BIC. Great intake, looked good, performed just as good, and it was cold air. But as we know, with a CAI the drawback of having the piping going to the bottom of the bumper is that it takes longer for the air to get to the engine. Thus losing, a fair amount of bottom-end torque. When installing the BIC and going out for the first drive I instantly felt that oh so sexy bottom-end torque that was missing when I was using a CAI. In all honesty though, I didn't really feel any power loss either, which was a bonus! It also sounded sexy too! It has a nice deep, crisp tone to it, and I'm sure that it will sound bada$$ when I get my Nur-Spec exhaust and vise-versa.

Overall: Great product!! It was worth my $130 and I have no intention to replace it! But what else would you expect from one of the most reputable companies in motorsports? Oh sure, it is basically a SRI, sure if somebody saved a few more moenies thay can get a real one...but if you are like me and swore and oath to keep it JDM or simply the fact that you want an intake that is different from 98% of the intakes that everyone here owns, this is for you.

Oh yeah...I almost forgot...

Pros: Easy install, utilizes the stock box's piping so there is no torque loss, includes a performance filter, and of course an "induction cover" to replace the restrictive bottom portion of the stock box for optimal airflow. Great sound too, it's just right loud but without being loud, and it's also JDM.

Cons: Very JDM characters and very little pictures, so you need to figure things out for yourself, not too hard really...10 mins or less of staring and piecing and you'll get it. Basically a Short Ram Intake, which means although the air get to you're engine faster, you'll be sucking up warm air once the engine get all heated up. But it's not like you're going to suffer horribly...it's not even noticeable IMHO. The only thing that reminds you that you have an induction cover is a sticker...yes, you can't see the product . That's ok though...it's still hot. On to the pics!!

Top View, and the only thing that let's you and everyone know you have one...

Looks pretty good. Might be a good option for those who are afraid of dealerships "voiding the warranty," or for people who don't like bling. It keeps that stock look.

Like you said though... It's not drawing air from the best place. Frankly, it's quite possibly the worst place to draw air. I mean, even the stock box has a snorkel pointed away from the hot engine.

So is it a paper type filter or foam?

neither, it's made outta cotton...but yeah you are right about the worst place, but honestly...I don't feel much of a difference when things do heat up....meh...as long as it works and isn't as putt putt as the stock box I'm happy.

Right... I meant cotton, not paper

Like a K&N drop-in.

Anyway, it's different from all the other run-of-the-mill intakes out there, so I do like it.

This is a nice intake. I don't remember where I read an article on short rams vs cold air but it stated that short rams are the ones that give you better fuel mileage and better performance than stock because the air is still flowing a lot better and at the same tempurature. Where as the cold air is breathing in a lot colder air then before, and we all know that cold air is more dense meaning you need more fuel to adjust the ratio. And yes our ecu's are smart and adjust according to air flow and heat. Let us know if you feel better mileage.

I am ordering one based on this thread. Thanks for the info.

So, the OEM hose that bolts to the headlight area is not used, right?

I just cant see from the pix.

Also, its been about a month. How is it holding up?

What benefits over just removing the snorkel and running the drop in K&N?
With my K&N and a 3 inch flex pipe I get cold air and better flow.

You would have to fabricate something to hold up the top of the stock case, as well as something to hold the filter in place. Remember, this is simply removing the bottom portion of the stock air box and keeping it suspended.

As far as "the worst place," that would be if the unit were open to the top of the engine bay.

The stock air box pulls air through a skinny, ridged tube; yes, it has a snorkel to the front...........but is it really drawing in colder air from the side of the engine bay? I know that this is an endless debate (true cold air like the Typhoon vs. short ram ) but I haven't seen anyone stick a temp gauge in both locations yet and just drive.

Suffice to say, in my opinion this is a good product. Stock looking, no fear of vapor lock, great sound, and easy install.

I plan on replacing my Typhoon based on these pics and mini-review.

Ok, so are any of the stock tubes removed when I put in the BLitz? The one that attaches to the headlight area?

thanks again
