Default Pulley install problem(alt. bolt)

Hey,

The crew and I atempted to install my agency power pulley tonight. We could never get the lower alternator bolt loosened. We tried different wrenches, sockets, etc., but to no avail. I don't understand the problem here. Some people post that you dont even need to loosen it or that it is easy. Neither is true.

Anyone have an ideas? Maybe a way that doesn't require loosening that bolt?

We had to put the car back together without accomplishing a damn thing. Depressing.

Any ideas/help/comments are appreciated.

the bottom one is only a piviot bolt (which is a 14mm, should have been able to get this from the front with a box wrench if needed.)
once the top bolt is loose the alt just needs a push to move it.
it seems you did way more work than needed.

i had the same problem installing the perrin pulley in my xa. What i ended up doing was forcing the alternator to move with a 2x4, then forcing it back into position (i had the position marked on the bracket so it would be the same). That did the trick, and now i get to enjoy the pulley everyday, hope i helped, dont worry, definatly worth it

that is how i did mine and it worked out better... a lot easier getting the alternator back in the right spot but i made a sharpie mark on the alternator and the bracket so i could get it exact

i was there too, we spent like...4 hours or so on that one bolt lol it sucked big time.

we kept thinking of ideas, like moving this or moving that...but we did not want Matt stuck without a car if it didnt work.

moving the alt a bit so you can get it all belted on..is a great idea. (was this what Wayne was trying to do at one point??)

that bolt is EVIL, Matt even marked the bolt so we could see if it ever moved...of course it did not...we would get all excited if it looked like it was moving, then it would always end up slipping off

if you guys do it again to complete it i'll go too, i'd love to see it finished and see how it performs!!

I didn't mess with that bolt, the one I loosened was reachable from the top, under the hood. it is above that bolt behind the frame rail. Did this a month ago, from what I remember, that is what I did.
