Default putting in a set of gauges 06 xb

I've decided to keep the ole xb until it quits, so I have decided to put a couple of gauges in. I've got a couple of questions......

1.
Are the threads on the oil pressure switch npt or bspt on an 06 scion xb...there doesn't seem to be a gasket so I'm assuming npt?

2.
I see a spout/drain on the engine block between the engine and the firewall.I think this is a block drain for coolant. Is this correct and would it be a good spot for temp gauge??

Just trying to get some advance info because this car is a daily driver and I don't want to be stuck waiting on adapters or fittings.

I'm not too crazy about the filter blocks. I'm wanting to put a tee in at the pressure switch and run a 3an hose up to the sender.

If you check xbsite.com I've done a fairly intense DIY on 3 gauge install, including the oil pressure switch.

thanks peej, it looks like you did pretty much what I was planning with the oil pressure sender......so the block has bspt. any thoughts about the plug/spout in back of the engine for the temp sender???

small..er...problem with getting the spout off the block..It is really frozen could not get it out..ended up slightly rounding it off..

Oh well, does anyone know the ID of the upper coolant hose?? Looks like I'm going with the inline adapter...
