Ratchets , sockets , wrenches , patience.
Hey, this would be a good time to upgrade to the Yaris electric power steering.

Might help...

(Sorry for poor server response - it's in Southern California, and I believe it is currently suffering from heat stroke. It has been up and down due to power and heat problems for the past 2 days or so. Right now it is very slow....)

I looked at that manual and that leaves me still in the dust. I Do not know how to pull all of the other stuff off. I already have the entire pump loose minus the metal hose which I can't get to turn I just cannot get the metal hose or the pump out of the engine area. X.x
Lots of different tool companies make 'em - even Sears Craftsman...
Here's a full set (all you need is one, though) from SK.

Seems like there is always some specialized tool that nothing else can substitute for... Like some of the distributor wrenches I used to have for my cars.
Then again, some are just TOO "special."

Good luck!

What is the specific name and size of the item?
I guess i can see if a local Sears or Lowes or Home Depot has it.

Well I have already gotten another power steering pump for 75 shipped So I will stick with that. I just have to find some place with that tool to remove the old pump. Then I have to put in the new one.
I got the specific thing that was mentioned here and it still will not budge but I think it is mainly because the tool will not fit behind the engine bay to get on the hose!!!!!! *grumbles after hours of trying*
Hmm....wonder if you could pull off the windshield wiper cowling and get to it? I had to in order to get my headers lowered in. I'm not even sure where the power steering pump is on this vehicle. Guess i should take a look and get a little more familiar with it.
Here's a link on how to take off the wiper cowling if it'll help any it opens up huge amounts of space near the firewall.

ARG!!!!! Well that about sums up my feeling about this xB and the P/S. I have both types of the SST in the correct sizes. Both ratchet and wrench style and it will not budge period no matter what.
I have worked countless hours on this and even a mechanic tried his hand at it.... ee gads..... I am even getting hired as a Toyota/Scion Tech/Service area!?!?!?!?! what the hell!
No one can get it loose.
