Default Running lean. suggestions?

Alright heres the deal. I installed the weapon-r intake manifold and new spark plugs. My CEL and everything would turn on after about 4-5 hours of driving. I went to check the code at autozone and it said it was too lean. they said of the 4 possibilities (MAF, ignition, oxygen sensor, injector) that it was probably the 02 sensor...hmm alright slap a new onea them in and same problem. so i take out my injectors and inspect them after a bottle of injector cleaner was ran through the tank. they seemd ok. i switched the order of them when i put them back in and now the CEL doesnt even turn off when I reset the ecu like it would before. Im assuming 1 or more injectors going bad, so im just looking for something else to check while i find some. any ideas? thanks

Thats along the lines I was thinking. I was thinking more fuel rail tho. Its hard to believe I need injectors after just a manifold when there people here running turbo with stock injectors. thanks for the input tho! ^_*

Try a CEL De-Fouler on the O2 sensor on the s-pipe.

Sorry, I have a tC so i'm going to assume they are setup the same way.

I'm fairly positive the reason you're throwing a CEL is because of the new intake manifold.

The reason, I believe, you're throwing the CEL is because the air at the first O2 sensor, on you headers, is reading differently than that of the second O2 sensor, which is on your Downpipe/S-pipe.

Your s-pipe is connected to your headers.

It should be:

Headers-->S-pipe-->CAT-->Mid-pipe-->Exhaust

There is an O2 sensor on your headers and s-pipe.

If you put a CEL eliminator/de-fouler on the 2nd O2 sensor and reset the light you should eliminate the CEL.

Like I said, this works perfectly for the tC......I don't know much about the xA/xB but I am assuming it works the same if not closely similar.

The Weapon-R CEL Eliminator looks like:

The folks over at Weapon-R know good and well anytime we install anything that messes around with air scion's throw a CEL and should definitely have a defouler in place to eliminate it.

Hmm ok well I have a down pipe comming off my header and my o2 sensors are right before and right after my cat. then its my resonator and an elbow down =P. Im still not sure what a defouler is tho. whats it do? is it the kinda thing where you like space the 02 sensor away from the exhaust or what?

Well our cars have 2 cats. One after the O2 on the headers and one on the downpipe/s-pipe.

Here is a pic of my defouler installed on my s-pipe

That's exactly what the defouler does.

No not at all. Works great with no problems and even more importantly no CEL.

You should not be running lean! 2 x xa's have them installed locally to us and for at least 2 months no Lean code or nothing....Everything is working great on the 2 scions.

Its been a little over 2 weeks since the last post. I would like to think it has been fixed by now but it would be nice to know what fixed it.

Hi everyone sorry about my absence. Umm ok the leanness. Well Its still there I ran a whole bottle of injector cleaner through, took the injectors out a couple times and inspected and cleaned n stuff. I just left the cel on for about a week or so then reset it. and its lasted since sunday. almost 3 days and no cel but its kinda weird. I dont know if this has anything to do with it or not but I cant crack 100mph now! idk whats goin on. airfilters new btw. Im due for and oil change (in at like 5500m hah) kinda got away from me lol. But as of now no Check engine lights. the backfireing is still there but not as bad so Im not really sure what did it other than time.

Backfiring?

I did not know about that.

Something is definitely wrong.

I never had a backfiring issue at all.
