Default Short Ram VS CAI

What is the real difference between these other than additional pipe?
Does the Short ram suck in engine bay air vis cold air from bottom of car?

thanks

The short rams that I have dealt with dont really suck engine bay air..they get more air from outside then in... The only real difference you will see between the 2 is... the cold air will give you a few more ponies, cost you more, harder to install and possibly more worries about sucking water into the engine... The short ram , less ponies, cost less, easier to install and less worries about water.

ah yes, another SR vs. CAI thread. the SR for the most part is the way to go. cheaper, hp vs. $$ spent is better, easier to install. if you search around there are many threads about this that will help you make a desicion.

good luck.

I've seen no proof anywhere that a CAI will make more power on the xB than a short ram. In fact the gains from either on the xB are so minimal that the difference between the two is probably negligible.

Save your money and buy a good quality short ram intake. I highly recommend the Fujita F5 Short ram. Great pricing and service from http://www.ptuning.com. Don't forget to use "ptscionlife" as your discount code.

Actually with the CAI's, you can use the "WR" designated filter covers. This not only "pre-filters" the incoming air, but also aids in helping your filter last longer between cleanings. As for the WR designation, this means water resistant. On our racing ATV's we use these and run through the toughest of terrain....yes, and very deep water. Also, if you already have a pre-filter, you can treat it with 3M's Scotchgard to bring it up to WR standards. The cooler the air, the better. It's all about density.
