or maybe even the celica gt-s motor. These motors seem like feesible swaps, it might get expensive with the custom mounts and wireharnessing but well worth it in my opinion. Whats the deal?

Yeah, someone should try a Celica motor... but I guess due to the car is still very new, no one would do a swap. I don't think the 3SGTE is gonna work... xB is FWD and not RWD or Mid Engine

the 3sgte came in fwd and awd version too in the older celicas.

i wanna smack a ae111 supercharged engine in.
that puppy puts out 165? or 170 or something..
with a topmount intercooler i believe.
crazy mother.. with a lil port/polish..
intake, header, exhaust..
maybe push out 180-185 hp to the flywheel..
NO BAD AT ALL =)
but this car aint new. caem out in japan in 1996..
im sure someone has done some motor work..
but this car was never meant to be raced! it was like a chill
car! people HAVE supped it up for the track and done
great but as for as a celica motor? those things costs a arm, a leg,
your nuts, someone else's nuts.. and more.
its not worth the cost.
we need a motor solution like honda's.. they have a handful to choose
from that all are the same series(B series).. they all share
header, intake manifold, tranny and other stuff.. like all interchangeable
to suit u. u can go from a 1.6 to a 2.0.. with or without
variable timing. its crazy. antyhing frmo a 135hp~190hp.
i dont think theres a easy to drop in motor..
is there?

well, you can pick up the 3s-gte for about 2000, but for all the custom fabrication that would be required, i don't know if it'd be worth it. But that motor is one hell of a motor, i've seen 400+ hp on stock internals!

The 3sgte will cost a lot of money to drop in. The celica gts 1.8 has already been done. I have heard of 2 stories already. One is in progress, which i heard about 4 months ago. The other story, i heard someone running high 13's. Not sure whats in the car besides the 1.8

The question is... are you willing to chop up a brand new car and junk a new motor for an older motor? I think later on people will do it. The car is still new and fresh.

can anyone give a ball park amount of an engine swap? would it have to be brought in from japan? or do we have the engines here in the states? what else need to be swapped? the tranny? someone ball park it for me...also...how long would the swap actually take? days? weeks? months? (i hope not)...and do you actually think the swap would work? i mean would the car still be a daily drive? any takers?

I actually own the gt-s engine and a shop said they'd do it for $1500-$2000 in about 3-5 weeks

How about building the stock engine up? I am sure that this has been done in Japan but how about here? didn't someone on here say they were only $300? why not build a hot second motor for your car and then swap it in when it's finished? I doubt these cars were ever built to handle 400 horsepower and you could do some interesting cam grinds with the vvti.

sorry but the 3s-gte wouldnt fit because of the difference in size... The 3e-fte starlet or a 5e-fe block with a 3e-fte head and electronics would be a better choice...
