Default Strup = Meltage

Yeah so this isn't exactly a complaint. Okay okay, it somewhat is. But I bought a Strup V2 from someone here on Scionlife, did great business, fast shipping and have no problem with the condition of it for the price he sold it to me for, but what was unfortunate is that from reading the strup website, the strup v2 has "better fitment"... Well, not really. I got mine installed and it still, like most people here have complained, touched the side of the exhaust hole. It melted my lip in just one day, 2 days totally screwed up that hole... From behind, you cant tell, but if you get under you can tell its melted... You can wiggle it and it gets stuck to the plastic... Now my exhaust has a bunch of melted plastic and paint on it. More cleaning, more ____ to buy....Gonna have to replace the lip, unfortunately.

So if you get the Strup, it sounds great and looks sick, but from my experience, get a muffler shop to install it because they can use their tools to bend the hangers and fit it perfect. You can put it on yourself, but if you have trouble, drive it to a shop right away before it melts somethin... I didn't have any money so I waited and hey now I have to get a new lip... or spend $80 on that ridiculous carbon fiber heat shield piece. LAME.

So I thought I'd just throw that out there. I will get pics soon... I notice that not many people have sound clips of the Strup on youtube either... I will try and post those for anyone who wants it =)

Default exhaust

Another axle-back that does the same thing is the DC Sports one. Melted my rear lip too. The hangers also have to be bent so it's centered on the exhaust cutout. Just a little FYI for any future exhaust buyers

Yeah, I mean, with such a big tip alot of exhausts are likely to burn and melt lips.

Don't get me wrong if you like the Strup... GET IT. Just install it right and preferably take it to a shop...

And what kind of zip ties withstand that kind of heat? lol I was thinking about that or rope so I could pull it to one side... Kind of late now, then again, itll probably melt a hole. if I keep it up any longer... More damage = new parts =P

But yeah, what zip ties?

zipties work great, you use them on the brackets for the hangers and they won't melt.

use zipties, or even bailing wire to hold the exaust where you want = no melting of the lip.... just attach at the hanger bracket and you will be ok, as dugzilla and others have said.

The whole thing is lame. If you spend $250 on something, it should fit right. Period. It's a shame too, because I love the look of the DC exhaust. I'll have to stick with my Stillen catback, which by the way, fits perfectly. No melted paint, and perfectly centered.
