was wondering if changing the conventional gear oil installed at factory in the manual for the XB to a true synthetic ( REDLINE MT-90 ) at 1,500 mis. ( or less ) would be too soon ? Plan to change motor oil to a synthetic blend at 1,500 miles and then go to PENNZOIL Platinum near the 5,000 mark . Hoping to gain some mileage , tone down the engine noise ,and get little more pickup with switch to synthetic . THANKS

 

i don't think that would be too soon at all.

 

You WILL gain a smoother and slightly faster trans with the RL MT90. It is never too soon to drop the factory fill IMO.

PP is a fine choice for motor oil as UOAs have shown marvelous numbers.

 

I swapped mine to MT90 out the show room..

 

anythin you can do to the auto tranny, better fluids wise?

I switched my xa manual to mobile 1 a few thousand miles after I owned it in the parking lot of an advance auto. No problems here, shifts better. For some reason advance auto does not sell redline, royal purple products. It takes less than 2 quarts, so if you fill it, some will spill out.
