Lots of people here are pro-JDM, but the header is difficult to get and expensive... There are better options available here.

mm your not gonna get a good header from if you want to stay within trd. cause they currently dont make one specifically for the 2azfe. getting the xb header will be harmful for your engine cause the old xb engine is smaller the exhaust gases will not be able to exit the car quick enough. If you were to get a trd header for the new wb engine, then it might work, you MAY have to do some custom piping though.
In the end, getting a trd part directly from japan without going through the dealer will costs you $$$$. so be smart about it.
AND alot of people are anti-JDM here, cause the tc isnt offered in the japanese market so it cant be jdm blahblahblah.
Believe i'm all up for jdm, but yes the tc IS NOT jdm. So, I wanted to go legit and get all TRD parts. As far as parts however, our cars were assembled in japan, and some parts, like our engines, are the same as the cars used in japan. So, try and tracking down a car that has our same engine, and you might find some jdm stuff for it.

TRD: 1-2hp, Any other: 1-2hp, Saving money while realizing no one is going to look in your engine bay and say "WOW thats like TRD. That header is JDM": Priceless

It's not like anyone really cares about squeezing horsepower in a car like the xA or the xB.

I would say it's the cost of getting one. And yes, some people will look at your engine bay and say "wow, you have a TRD header."

Why? Because it's not normally seen these days.
Why? Because of the cost, and because of people like you who think about "how much HP am I getting out of this, and how much am I paying for it?"

Think about the people who get satisfaction out of knowing they have an all-TRD car.

But I digress, I'd say the most definitive answer to the question would be cost. Nobody wants to dish out the money for a TRD header, as there are cheaper alternatives.

It's just like getting the TRD axle-back, or TRD CAI. If you can get it for cheap, go for it, otherwise it's just a waste in comparison to aftermarket components (HP per $). And I agree with Pengu about the whole TRD car, it's expensive as hell, but it's probably the cleanest look you could possibly get.

I don't see a ton of people noticing the header on the xB either way. It's hidden behind everything.

The OBX and Megan headers are inexpensive and supposedly perform just as well as the others. The heatshield will fit on the MMW header.

I got a whopping 4hp out of it :D

better than nothing. I got a really good deal on the header too so it was worth it.

Headers have a tendency to glow when heated.

I just got an MMW. Install should be this weekend.

I've never looked at my header while it was hot. Maybe I'll take a look after I drive it home.
I've only seen headers glow on performacne engines. I didnt think they could get hot enough to glow on our little toaster motor.

Does anyone know if I install a MMW or OBX header if it will be CARB legal?

No, it will not be CARB legal. However, the MMW has brackets to retain the stock heat shield, so at a glance, it will appear stock.

I just put mine in last night... WOW! totally worth it.
